The signals were there in KO's opinion. Though he didn't come from a rich family and all his relatives were gone including his immediate one. It was the gesture of one single smiling man that drew his gaze.

KO spent years in the digital world hiding and working on a regular job. He didn't have as much money and most of the money he did have was in a bank and only enough to support food but barely in rental.

Life was boring and the reason why he was good at hacking the net was he was in search of something or rather someone. There was one person that he was his friend when he was in middle school and whilst his family were all right before the incident as he label it.

He was able to play a game and meet an interesting person in an avatar but one day after discovering what gender he was the person disappeared. His heart was broken because his friend disappeared and worse that was when everything went wrong. He finished his schooling and left to work odd jobs and it was also why he was good at hacking.

Searching the data base trying to find his friend he felt if he could regain a small part of his past he would be fine. That he was such a loner on the move and no one wiser as to who he was and granted hacking didn't mean he would take money or steal from those around even though there was temptation. It was just the pride he had that he was good at what he did.

Then one day he gotten a job to cook at Qing University. There he met the most strangest man that smiled brightly at him and he could almost feel like a bright star appeared in front of him so friendly and confident.

KO wanted that brightness but the man was a student and he doubt he would have ever met him again. He was evidently surprised when the man once again appeared. Introducing himself and complaining about food and praising the dishes he made.

That smile and wide eyes were beckoning and he felt himself falling into the pattern of listening to the happy exclamation of someone so alive. Then the days came in and out and Hao Mei appeared. The first time he heard the name he was intrigue because in reality he could see the appeal of that face as beautiful to him.

Then the complaints of Hao Mei and the exhaustion of seeing him fall asleep on the table after eating his fill. Unable to help himself he grab Hao Mei lab top and inserted a program to monitor the man. He wanted to see what exactly was exhausting his friend, where that happy smile was slowly fading away and KO didn't want that to happen to the man that befriended him first.

The days that Hao Mei was gone KO tap into the laptop and watches what was going on. The programs that Hao Mei created was interesting and detailed. He admires his friends mind the logical and computing and sometimes he activates the camera to watch the man at work.

But the haggard look worries him and he felt that he was unable to watch him continue on. So he decided to make his presence known, he didn't want to see the skinny frame and the exhaustion on Hao Mei.

He would protect him.
