Summary: The days came by and by until she appeared.
The sign in the window of the wooden plank building had
no signs, but rather indicated the wear and tear and lack of funds to fix the
place with fresh paint. The building wasn’t as bad as peasant homes outside,
but compare to other royalty it was severely lacking.
Wang Wook was a Prince; once upon a time he was thrown
away because of his social standing not being adequate. If it were not for his
wife Lady Hae his family would have been starving and out on the street. He had
never been the run of the mill Prince, he had spent many of his childhood’s
years learning the way of writings and history, and yet he had run around free
outside the palace grounds.
During the years of his childhood he did have a nice
life, with richness, but that faded quickly and he knew what it was like to
want and need. It was why he was very strict on trying to help the poor. He had
never loved his wife, he appreciate that he was married and was provided
funding. She was always there and he was thankful for her help, but it didn’t
perpetrate his desire toward her.
They were like companions just living and traveling along
together. It wasn’t until a beam of light came into his life. The girl Hae Soo,
pretty as a button, with large eyes looking at him originally without fear and
was calm and quiet.
Then the change happened, and she was different and
scared of everything around him. His spirit rouse and he felt he wanted to help
her. He wanted to protect her and he use the excuse of her being part of his
wife’s family as an excuse.
The second time he met her she was indistinguishable to
the one she met originally. Now she peers like a scared child and he reach out
offering his hand taking her small slim fingers. As time progressed he saw her
child like eyes look around in wonder.
Wang Wook believed she was slowly spreading her wing the
bright yellow canary that came out of that dark cage. Wang Wook dreams were
always composed of darkness and the continuousness of death. Slitting the necks
and killing to protect his sister and mother. After experiencing this dream for
consecutive nights Wang Wook that it was a constant companion.
He found himself seemingly by change going out of his way
on a stroll to see the yellow canary. The changes that happened was an sudden
discovery for him, his stare always looking at her with fondness. Seeing Hae
Soo overcoming her difficulties and loss of memory.
She was lifting her wings, and it hurt him thinking if
anything would break those wings. The delight she had from making soap, the
laughter and silliness of innocence. He wanted to experience those carefree
moment.
Yet, dangers always seem to lurk around that yellow bird.
Following her around crouching to pounce on her. He hated his hesitation. He
hated how he couldn’t prevent her pain or hurt. How he held his tongue because
of worry for his family.
Hae Soo wasn’t his family, she is his wife’s, but he
wanted too so much help her. Yet, he does not dare.
Was that when she started to look elsewhere? Didn’t she
originally want him?
