Daniel watches the back of his Nurse. The claiming had happened and he didn’t want anyone to muscle in. She was a prickly little thing smiling at certain times and scowling at others. He reminded him of a hedgehog curling up to stab him with her sharp tongue. However, she was quite kind to those she cares for ensuring they take their medicine that they were comfortable and not in pain.

Chen was  busy chasing after the other medic Albert. Daniel wasn't surprise that their pal Chen following along the bolder doctor. To Daniel that sort of behavior was admirable and stupid. Daniel wasn't completely sure why Chen liked Albert, all he knew was that the two went drinking one day and coming back where Chen was praising Albert as a genius.

If Albert was a genius, Daniel wondered why the man was such a man child. Albert rather run on too little sleep. Chen found the behavior to prove the man was a genius, but Daniel thought he was a horrific patient when he finally did catch a cold. After all fools don't catch colds.

There were a gaggle of flustered nurses beside Ye-Hwa when Daniel move along to check on the other patients. A few distressed patient from being ignored by the nurses and a dash of Chen commentaries of how Daniel needed to be firm with Ye-Hwa.

It wasn't Daniel's preferred way of doing so being firm with her, but instead he like teasing the woman and seeing her lit like a keg of gun powder. It was only too bad that he would have to leave her once in a while.

The travel of Russia was unexpected; Ri Ye-Hwa had opened up to Daniel and Wang. They had become a trio of friends. Ye-Hwa saying a triangle was a strong shape and that they would watch each other back.

Wang with the ability to put someone to sleep in a matter of seconds to Daniel with his god like hands, and Ye-Hwa her ability to care and ensure that a patient was well care for after their surgery and that is how she liked it.

Less complication of interaction, though Daniel would tease it was being hard boiled. He constantly flirts with her then a call happened to Russia and Ye-Hwa headed over with Daniel. They had a job happening and Daniel insisted he wanted to meet Ye-Hwa’s parents. Wondering what sort of people was able to put with her prickly personality.

At four a.m. on a Friday morning Ye-Hwa’s big brown eyes opened upon another day and, as always, she was at once wide awake and began immediately to deal with the problems conjured up in the clinic of war. Last night she felt the urgent the need of conversation, and selecting for the purpose Wang, who had arrived at Russia the night before. They each had their own set rooms, but all shared a house, namely Ye-Hwa’s. Ye-Hwa slipped quickly out of bed, throwing her robe around her slim shoulders and went along the hallway to Wang room, she had talked to the man about her worries, Daniel had once again went off on his own.

Daniel always did that, when he felt like it, considering Wang was here and he could handle the cases they had. Daniel didn’t need to do any surgeries only thing was the aftercare and monitoring, which Wang could do.

Wang had informed her of the mission that Daniel needed to go on. It was one of the reasons why their group had so much freedom, because they needed to move along when they can. Daniel did small favors like missions to help do surgeries on victims to that of military personnel if it meant that their group could move around and treat those in need.

Ye-Hwa always felt that Daniel had a golden mouth that could sweet talk anyone out or into anything. Her mind drew back to the conversation.

“And so, Ye-Hwa, you really must agree that it is important for him to go. I don’t understand why you are having difficulties!” Wang had drained his tea and refilled it.

“Hah!” Ye-Hwa grunted inarticulately, since she was exhausted from her shifts. “He goes off to god knows where, doesn’t he know we need him here instead of going out there to collect more problems.”

Wang said gently, “He hasn’t gotten hurt…and the place he is going is mostly for surgery.”

“Sure, surgery! If you mean being in the dirt while bullets being fired at him while his hand in someone’s guts.” Ye-Hwa hisses.
Wang gave a reproachful look, Ye-Hwa crossed to the window, opening the shutter and jerking the blinds with a brisk movement, letting in the pale light of the moon. Glancing outside, she then flips it back down, and leans against the sill.

“Well, at any rate, he will be back. You know him! He will come back to you, though I don’t understand why you haven’t given into him yet.” Wang mutters.

“What’s that?” Ye-Hwa drew herself up to her full height.

Wang glances longingly at the bottle of Jack Daniels they had hidden in the back of the shelf. “Look, you want him.” He waves his finger around, “Listen Ye-Hwa you cannot go on denying it. He completes you and finds your prickly personality to his taste.”

“I can’t…” Ye-Hwa said her fingers tighten.

“You can; besides, I will be heading out in next week. I am sure that the man would be back by then, besides your parents are coming back they can handle and help out with the patients.”

Ye-Hwa rolled her eyes, “Fine…but take care of yourself when you go.”

“Nagging woman.” Cheerful smile took out the bite from the phrase, but all Ye-Hwa did was smack him.

The days pass quickly and Wang was off onto another one of his missions. He was selected for a clinic in Africa this time. The phone calls would be useless there, but they could message on the system that Daniel had set up prior.

Ye-Hwa was beaming at her father, “Appa welcome back.”

“Why no greeting for your tired mother?” Grey and black head popped through the door earning a brighter smile on her face.

“Of course, and where is the squirt?” Ye-Hwa looks for her brother.

“His out in the back of the van, his coming soon.” Said her father.

Her mother rummage in the cabinet and wrinkle her nose, “Ye-Hwa go out to the market and buy some grocery. I am going to cook you the best food, since it’s been a while, since we been back.”

“You don’t have too.” Ye-Hwa protested.

“Nonsense!” Mrs. Ri said as she handed over the key to the van.

Mr. Ri grins, “Where is our son in law?”

Ye-Hwa choked on her spit, “Appa! His not your son in law, and besides he was supposed to be back soon.”

A vibration of her phone made her pause in her words and glancing at it she sighs, “Speaking of the devil.”

This drew laughter from them. “Well go get him and the food! Your mother would be sure to make things for you both!”

Mrs. Ri raises her eyebrow, “You get to wash the pot!”

“Yes dear!” Mr. Ri echoes drawing a laugh from Ye-Hwa.

Hurrying along, Ye-Hwa ruffles her brother, Young’s hair, “Go inside, Mom and Dad wants you to help them out.” She slid into the driver seat and started the van and drove out.

Travelling she went on driving to the airport, a bright smile on her face, considering the words from her father and Wang. Perhaps she should give this a chance, after all Daniel never was mad at her for her harsh words.

The weather was cold and not pleasant, the airport was always crowded even though they were in a location where there were buildings, but her place was more outside in the country area. She notices something off, frowning; she got out of the car, which she parked next to the building. She took one step when she was slammed into the Van and a hand pressed against her lips. Eyes widen in confusion and shock at the sudden appearance of Daniel.

Thickness of his jacket pressed against her and Ye-Hwa made a soft questioning noise, he removes his hand after placing his finger to his lips. He glances around and hurried to push her into the Van and took the wheel quickly after her.

“We have to go now.” Daniel said harshly, starting the Van and pulling out onto the road.

“What’s going on?” Ye-Hwa was confused the pure panic and steel determination in Daniel made him feel more like a man, and yet frighten her.

Daniel lips presses together into a white line, “We need to get to the clinic, they are after the patient and also your parents were wanted by the secret police.”

“What?” Ye-Hwa hisses, “That doesn’t make sense, they are only eastern doctors.”

“Well they are a red blimp on someone’s list.” Daniel said, “We have to grab them and quickly get them out of Russia.”

“What are you talking about, Daniel?”

“They are after your whole family. The people are either going to get you all or come tomorrow. I know you are in shock, but we need to hurry up.” Daniel eyes peer over as he saw Ye-Hwa hurrying to grab her cellphone to call the house.

The phone rang and rang, but Ye-Hwa continued on.

“What about their cellphones?” Daniel asked.

Ye-Hwa pales, “They don’t have any and either does Young.”

They drove in silence and Daniel was coming up with a plan, by the time they arrived to the clinic there was fire, the beloved building she lived in was going in smoke. Ye-Hwa opens the door jumping out and hurried toward the familiar gates, a loud shot went off in sequences and her eyes widen. Seeing the familiar figures slowly collapse on the floor shock linger in her limps and hands grab her drawing her back to the van.

Ye-Hwa couldn’t tell she was struggling and being lifted into van. Shove inside as she wails and cries out, the bodies all three lying on the floor.

The van went on doing a U-turn and hurrying toward a location she did not know of.

“Ye-Hwa…” The insistent calling drew her out of her mind numbing wreck state. “Ye-Hwa.”

Looking with redden eyes and nose at the man that came too late, and yet too soon. “What?” Her voice was crackled.

“We need to get you out of here.” Daniel said, “They have you registered and you aren’t protected since you are a citizen of Russia.”

Licking her dry lips, “You should have left me there. I have nothing left, nothing.”

“Don’t say that!” Daniel said harshly.

“I should be dead with them.” Ye-Hwa sobs, “My family is gone!”

Daniel narrows his eyes and swung them hard against the street parking and grabs her shoulder shaking her. “Stop that! Stop it I say!”

“Why the hell not?” She screams.

“You little fool!” Daniel kisses her lips harshly and pulled back to shake her, “I am your family too! I won’t lose you!”

Stunned silence, “Daniel…”

“You didn’t realize it?” Daniel felt his ego taking a hit but hug her tight, “You stubborn fool! Let me save you!”

“Is this the Doctor talking?” Ye-Hwa bites back like a wounded animal.

Daniel palm lifted her defiant chin, “No, this is a man that will not see the woman he loves being shot like an animal! Your father and mother would want me to save you! You are all that is left of the Ri family and damn it all if I am going to let you go.”

“How are you going to try to save me?” Ye-Hwa asked with thinly veil scorn, “They have my identity in the database, and I am not like you, a citizen of Canada.”

“You would be…” Daniel said already planning it, “Let’s get married.”

“What?” Ye-Hwa cried out, “You are insane.”

Daniel went back and turned the van heading down the roads toward the embassy. “You got that right, but we can get married at the embassy, just sign the paper, this is important enough to get you out.”

“That would take months to get me a visa out even if I married you.” Ye-Hwa was in disbelief.

“I can pull a few strings.” Daniel said with a lopsided grin, “You forget I have a few buddies.”

“Yes, those buddies.” Ye-Hwa was gaining back the color in her cheeks.

“Ah there is the prickly woman of mine.” Daniel said stomping on the accelerator.

“WHAT DID YOU SAY?”

The response was laugther.
