Summary: Si Jin and what if's if he and Argus had taken another path.
Yoo Si Jin sat propped against the
headboard, his knees drawn to his chin, his head resting on folded arms. The
night was passing along quickly and he couldn’t sleep, so much David Argus
running through his mind. All along, he knew letting him into his heart could
hurt him. He believed in people and that was one of his weaknesses.
David had told him this so many
times. He had said, “You and your rules will one day get you killed. Just as
that soft spot you have for people.”
At the time, Si Jin never believed
that someone that protected each other like brothers would end up spitting on
his trust and betraying the ethical code that he believed in. It honestly,
hurt.
Alpha Team had joined up with the
Black Op and just those small missions and feeling of connection between him
and the Captain Argus he believe was enough to give trust.
He was wrong. He was always
attracted to the wrong sort.
Argus was charismatic bona fid
leader. He was able to charm people around him, inserting himself into men’s
desires of belonging. The photograph and saying of ‘kimichi’ instead of cheese,
the little nuances of touches and great big smiles when they get drunk
together.
And yet, he felt this spark with
Argus that went straight to his bones.
Adam apple bobbling along, trickle
of tears slid down the side of his face. David the name according to Hebrew
Bible depicted as a valorous warrior, a poet, and a musician. Si Jin did not
know if his parents named him for the traits that would grow. David was able to
sing, he was a warrior, and he seduced him like a poet, without anything except
his waxing words during soften moments in the dead of the night.
However, there was always two side
of the coin, the name Argus in Greek myth that he was the watchman for Hera. In
Si Jin mind he should of known that Argus was a monster, he was wakeful and
alert and always watching and planning.
The name also meant that he would be
slain, but for Si Jin he never thought it would be by his own hand that he shoots
Argus dead.
The thought of what could have been,
if the Black Op had continued their work together. If Argus had simply quit and
move to Korea or vice versa, would that brilliant man be alive? Yet life was
like that, a bunch of what ifs and he knew that he had to move on and not
dwell.
For someone like him, life is short
to waste, but he would always linger staring at the ceiling of whatever room he
dwell in and wonder, inwardly, if there could have been more.
