Descendant of the Sun Recap Episode 3
The appearance of the dashing Captain Yoo Shi-Jin have set hearts aflutter in Asia. *Clap hands* With the swaggering scene of him descending from the large air craft carrier he has stolen many hearts by the appearance of a Top Gun Scene or even that of Independence Day when the heroes return or end up doing the cat walk. I suppose we could compare Captain Yoo Shi-Jin to that of Tom Cruise, but I might be pointed out with opposition on my comparison. So Please forgive me in all of my excitement.

The most artistic scene I think is the scarf flying off Mo Yeon from the wind of the aircraft. While chasing after her scarf and bending down the scarf flew one way then another. Captain Yoo passing by our Doctor Kang ignoring her must be hard. Both of them did part ways with one another and now it is like seeing your ex boyfriend after so long. It's not a pleasant feeling, I acknowledge that! Min-Ji noticing the Captain and asked if that was the same guy that Mo Yeon was seeing. Nurse Ja-ae confirmed he walked til he is near the scarf and the rest of his Alpha Team are behind him. Dae Young speaks that they would be not taking their luggage case with them instead would be using military issued backpack and they would be issue and place all of their belongs inside them. They would take a CH 47 aircraft behind them to go to the location of where they would be set up. Dae Young continued with all the information of their itinerary.
Then they arrive at the camp base and are welcomed by the military men that come along with a bunch of flowers and leis giving them all the woman. You know that the men misses woman after so long and Doctor Song is hilarious bending his head thinking he would get flowers. Well tough! Chi Hoon point out the medicube and said that this is their place they would work. Doctor Song and Lee Chi Hoon do get so well when they are singing song and dancing together.
Min-Ji looks like she would be sharing the same tent with Doctor Kang. Kim Gi-Beom shows up to say hello to both the two, he had to remind them of himself and both girls are so excited. Discovering the identity Mo Yeon asked him to jump up and down to prove that his ankle was better. Doing so excitedly he shows how healthy he is and that he has gone into the military.
Whereas in another tent Nurse Ja-Ae is being accompanied by Doctor Song as he watches her unpack. He tells her not to unpack and instead to run away with her. He also was bouncing up and down on the bed and she told him to stop trying to break the spring. Ja-Ae said she is needed in Uruk and Doctor Song said why they should be staying here as punishment when it was Mo Yeon that incurred the Chairman's wrath. Ja-Ae response that she knew Doctor Song for almost 30 years that is plenty punishment. Many people would speculate that these two would have been married, but to confirm this I believe they are not.
They just probably knew one another from middle school ended up in high school then onto university together and so on so forth. It also means they know each other for so long and the constant fights they probably have haha. Being upset with Ja-Ae for not running away with her and her words he started to jump up and down on her mattress like a child wanting to break the bed. I can see what she meant about the 30 years.
Chi Hoon is taking photographs of a boot with flowers inside. He look like being a tourist with photographs to keep for his memory of this work. Snoopy Sergeant Choi U-geun was against it as he check the photographs and he stated that they cannot have photos being done here since it is a mission. Mo Yeon interrupts saying that is how they are being secretive and all and that they don't want some sort of breach due to confidentiality.
Captain Yoo was getting out of the army jeep and carrying a box that he receive from the post from Korea. He does notice Mo Yeon watching but but pretends not to notice her as he went into the building where his room and office is located at. Mo Yeon wonder if he didn't see her or was ignoring her. Getting into the building he lean against the wall and stare at the mirror that can shot outside. Mo Yeon lean down and pull out the rock form her shoe. He watches her and notices how sad and upset she look as she went away.
Upstairs on the second floor Shi Jin told Dae Young to open the parcel and to be a man. Opening the box he pull out Red Ginseng and DVD's that look to be for the other three men of team alpha. Shi Jin said that Myung Joo is something even though he dumped her.He asked if there was anything for him, Dae Young just shove the empty box at Shi Jin. Curious he asked if there was anything for Dae Young and he opened a letter stating that his present is coming.
Shi-Jin surprised asked if Myung Joo was coming then?
Mo Yeon watches some kids trying to eat a piece of metal and she hurried over telling them no its dirty she even climb over the fence into the other side. Taking away the metal and dirt she handed a candy over to the kid and all the children swarm her asking for one. Captain Yoo appears and tell her as he cross over not to give candy if she doesn't have enough for all. He tells the children to go enjoy the party with food that the army men are putting out. They all hurry away. Shi Jin turning his attention Mo Yeon asked how she could just go over the fence to the other side that isn't allowed. She throws a hiss fit of words and started to walk away when all of a sudden a snick sound happen and she stopped.
Stunned at the sound she look down. Shi Jin asked her if she stepped on a landmine? He told her not to move then bend down to inspect the mine and told her not to move. Freaking out she said that seriously it is a mine and what they should do? He states his been in the field for 16 years and no one had survived a landmine before. He is teasing her and tell her then look at the man in the movie and he started to leave and she cursed at him for being a bad man. He went back telling her he is the only man that can save her and she curse at him. Shi Jin came closer and just move his feet a certain way brushing her aside and told her that he would stand here and take the blow up explosion of the landmine.
Freaking out that Shi-Jin could die because of her she told him to just stop it and to go find a bomb expert to help disarm the landmine and that she doesn't need or want for him to die because of her. Cute! She is very cute normally other people would just run away and leave the person behind but she rather take the explosive then cause the death of another. *Claps hands* As they both tussle around Shi Jin pull her back and over letting her fall onto his body as he lay down and pull his arms over his head. He then asked her how she has been...indeed this portion would make anyone immediately mad. Even I would be extremely upset! Mo Yeon started to cry and she got up and told him not to follow her or talk to her she is upset. Going toward the feast that the medical team and the army men are having. Chi Hoon asked her if she would be eating. She told them to save her some and went to the sink to pump out water and rub her eyes with the cool water.
Hurrying after Mo Yeon, Shi Jin is intercepted by Dae Young whom asked him what is wrong. Shi Jin confessed at making Mo Yeon cry and of course Dae Young teases him for already achieving that status with the girl he was after. Following up he tries to block Mo Yeon as she tries to leave for her room. He kept on apologizing, but she move back and forth until the flag comes along and music goes on the air.Shi Jin immediately salutes with the rest of the men and turn her around to make her stand and look at the flag. Placing her hand on her chest she look at the flag. The next scene occurs is Captain Yoo is in the barrack taking role call of the men. Then Snoopy is helping the medical team put up mosquito nets up so they can sleep without getting bitten at night time.
Scene shifts to Mo Yeon tent with her mirror set up and a candle burning. She really does love candles. Closing her eyes she fall asleep while the sentry are patrolling the base. In the morning the privates are running every morning half naked and the two nurses and Mo Yeon are watching fascinated.
Shi Jin approaches and asked them if the noise woke them up. Mo Yeon keep telling Shi Jin to move out of the way as she watches the guy doing their paces. He asked Mo Yeon when she is free but she wouldn't answer. He then tell the guys to stop and to return to barrack as they leave Mo Yeon keep trying to glance, but he block the way. Making her glare at him in anger, Shi Jin finds it definitely cute. The next morning already in the medicube Soldiers are lined up to get their physical done. The doctors are setting up with their assistants. One by One they trailed after Mo Yeon and Min Ji when they come in going straight for the pretty doctor and nurse. Doctor Song look shocked as the rest of the other staffers.
Mo Yeon eyeing the rest of the guys there told them that when she take blood it hurts. The boys were all enrapture by her beauty and stated that they are fine with the pain. Feeling a tad jealous but not wanting to interrupt Shi Jin made his way to leave, but Mo Yeon call to him saying since he is the leader that he should set example and let her take blood first.
Feeling vicious for the previous teasing while trying to watch the Doves of Uruk as she labels the half naked running man. She poke at Shi Jin and pretends to not know where the veins is located at. Noting her behavior, Shi Jin asked her if she was still mad at him before as she keep pretending not to know. The next words said is a hoot!
Mo Yeon: It'll sting a bit.
Shi-Jin: AH!
Mo Yeon: That's Strange Where is the Vein
Shi-Jin: Officers carry a gun.
Mo Yeon: Is it? Shoot me, then. Is this it?
Shi-Jin: Ah!
Mo Yeon: I didn't even poke yet.
Shi-Jin: If you are still angry with me for what I did yesterday.
Mo Yeon: I wouldn't hold a grudge about something like that. Is this it?
Shi-Jin: My Vein's here.
Mo Yeon: Oh!
Shi-Jin: Get the tube.
Mo Yeon: Right.

I am sure he is trying to deem himself in front of his men considering that Mo Yeon did embarrass him. What a man! While taking the blood and finishing the plant manager comes along to greet them. Shi Jin invites the man to a BBQ they were having but a sudden crash happened and the plant manager wonder if it was one of their trucks that fell off the mountain.
The men gear up and head out to check out the accident. The truck is label U.N. and that it has rolled over they start to check for survivors. A few are dead already but only one guy look not as badly injured. Shi Jin notices that the shirts are not well fitted on the dead man and that there is a tattoo on the arm.
The guy that is sitting beside the truck claim he is U.N. and that he is hurt and asking for treatment. He goes to look into the car for the keys but already Shi Jin has taken the key. They unlocked the back of the truck and the man that pretending to be hurt went to grab a gun. Captain Yoo immediately punch him in the face and disarm the man as they cuff him. He explain his thinking of the and they discover that the back of the truck storage hidden loads of arm guns and rifles. Claim they have foreign legion tattoos and he is wondering who they work for. The local authorities come along to put the man into the back of their police car and to take him away. They then leave and Dae Young states they should register this in paperwork in regards to this incident.
The men return and Mo Yeon asked them if anyone is hurt and what happened. They said that everyone is okay and it was just an accident. Mo Yeon required Wifi and asked if there is a way to access it. Dae Young being a pal to set up his pal states that Mo Yeon could go to the internet cafe and told her to go with the Captain since his going out to make a report.
Mo Yeon not suspecting anything has to spend more time with the Captain and in the blue car that is driving along the road. Mo Yeon is talking to a person in regards to wanting to deposit money for the lease of a clinic she wanted to created. That she will be doing the transfer from oversea from a cafe. Shi Jin listening to her talking on the phone asked her why she was opening a clinic. She said she is opening a clinic and he indicated he knows about the scandal. She got surprise how he heard and he states that is what was on the gossip circuit of her medical staff when she is not around.
I guess they wanted to make a point for him to know what happen to their dear Doctor Kang while he is gone. Shi Jin said he didn't give up on her for her to date jerks like that, Mo Yeon insisted she wasn't dating but said she didn't want to talk about it.
Mo Yeon notice an island off far away and she wanted to know what it is. Shi Jin said it is too far and then Mo Yeon asked if he was venting his frustration on her. He claim he isn't and that she has to learn the location in case she has to go into town without him. Arriving into town he held her head back when they stopped and told her wait a minute he will bring her to a place to use the internet.
Ri Ye-Hwa the woman before that pointed a gun at Yoo Shi Jin is surprise that she is inside the mechanic shop. He asked where Daniel is but Ri Ye-Hwa states that he isn't here and that she is one of the co-owners. She also called Shi Jin as the conceited soldier. Shi Jin also wanted to confirm if Daniel was banned from entering the country. Ye-Hwa said she doesn't care about that idiot and even if he was allow entry she wouldn't allow him to stay inside the shop. She then glances to Mo Yeon and sniffs her and states the smell of antiseptics (ethanol) meaning Mo Yeon was with the medical team that came from Korea.
Weird out by the woman Mo Yeon asked Shi Jin who she is...Amazing Shi Jin got all this Intel after meeting the woman. He states that Ye-Hwa is originally a nurse in the peacemaker emergency aid guess they are avoiding the words doctor without borders. The shop that she manages is probably a side job.
Mo Yeon is thinking that the shop is failing to make money. Pride surfacing Ye-Hwa said she did it for a side job for fun instead of making money and also that she doesn't need money. Suspicious of how Shi Jin had so much information. The Captain stated that he thinks Daniel told him a bit about a wife from Korea. Ye-Hwa laughing stating she isn't the wife only co-workers. She also ask what they need since she has everything but Daniel.
The request of Wi-Fi is given and Ye-Hwa acts like a dimwitted that she doesn't even know what it is. Shi Jin said he will be back in one hour since he has to go make a report. I guess he trust anyone that is friends with Daniel and most likely he doesn't want Mo Yeon to meet any sort of problem so he is ensuring she has a safe location. Woman in places that aren't safe may ask for trouble.
At command base Shi Jin reports that around 9 am they found a corpse and a live body that may be involved with the black market. He states they transfer the man to the local authorities end report. The Battalion commander states that he already got the report and that these guys they took out aren't small scale ruffians who trade BB guns. He addresses that he knows that Alpha team are not afraid of much but they aren't sure how well connected these guys are and that they don't have regard for the law and are reckless.
Argus the villain of the story is talking to the police man that had brought back his man with the arms that were turned over to them. The cop claims that they cannot pretend to be the UN to cross the border anymore because the Koreans now know. Immediate a gun is pointed at the police and Argus told the Police man that they have it covered. They change their cover and are no longer using the UN name. Releasing Argus man from handcuff the police man said there is only so much he can do. Argus state he has his people in high positions then offer a wad of money to the man he toss it then shot the man. Then told the next guy that he is promoted to higher rank.
The Battalion commander call the men are Merchants of Death and he told Shi JIn to stay out of it. That their dispatch hours are almost over and they can return back to Korea obviously he wants to stay out of trouble. A transfer order was given to Seo Dae Young, whom already got the fax. We now get a past background toward the reason for why Seo Dae Young and the General to Myung Joo story.
General hearing his daughter was dating Seo Dae Young comes along to the mess hall to eat with the rest of the men. Dae Young not eating waits patiently for the man and all the men to walk away. At this point he was a Staff Sergent and the General asked clearly if he was dating his daughter. Dae Young confirm it but the General told him that his daughter had a future and he didn't want the guy to be with his daughter. He would give him a choice however so that both of them would remain honorable. To stay in the army and move around or to quit the army.
Seo Dae Young is packing now and looking at the paper written by Myung Joo that his present is coming, but he has to go away.
Inside the car driving back Shi Jin asked her if she was able to wire the money. Confirming she has she asked him if something is wrong, Shi Jin tell her he is frustrated because his man is being transfer away because of a father and not because of a commander concern. Curious Mo Yeon asked questions in regards to the first meeting of Myung Joo and Dae Young.
The tale comes along where a thousand mile march happened and at that time support army surgeon was Myung Joo. She notices the injuries that might happened to Dae Young because he is carrying his man gear as they make their third way around the mountain. She asked if the reason why he is working so hard for that leave is because he want to ruin his ex gf wedding and he confirm it is.
Stopping the car Shi Jin told Mo Yeon to get out of the car because they are going to the beach. She states it is too far but Shi Jin told her to follow since they would be busy later tonight. Of course she is being stubborn to have a date with him and Shi Jin states if she wanted to the know the story she has to follow.
The story goes along as Dae Young is dressed in a suit and getting into the car and Myung Joo went into the back of the car and he is surprised by her appearance. Myung Joo states to him since he want to ruin his ex gf wedding that the woman would be happy that she got rid of him and not regret it. She said however if he takes her with him then the ex gf would regret all night. Is what she meant Dae Young is interested. However, she said the condition is he look away from the mirror and not peak. She starts to change in the back of the car.Then back to Shi Jin walking along the pier like area to where a boat sat in lines. Mo Yeon agrees that Myung Joo is an expert at breaking couples up. I guess the background between the two girls are still going on. However, she was curious on what the condition was for Myung Joo helping Dae Young. Shi Jin the arrogant man stated that is where he came in.
Dae Young asked if she was a ghost and she flap her hand cutely and said an angel and asked him to hurry up and drive both seat belt and headed off. Mo Yeon is amaze it is somewhat like at triangle relationship between Shi Jin, Myung Joo, and Dae Young all due to the general. She asked him if Shi Jin had any interest in this but he asked her why she asking since she wasn't interested in him. Good counter argument. Helping Mo Yeon onto the boat and steadying her with his hands. I guess this is more skinship the guy thought of.
Mo Yeon said she asked without any reason and she said she isn't curious about his thoughts. I can hear all the lies in her words. Leaning forward to stare into her eyes I can tell the other guy is also examining her to determine whether she is lying as well. He said she look like she is curious about it thought. Yep! Called it!
The next few shots of them driving the boat along toward the boat has to be the best scenes of Greece water ways. If I recall there are lots of islands around Greece area and there were rumor of Atlantis is somewhat further out in a formation of something that is like an eye. Sorry rambling history here. Anyways they head to the abandon ship area on a beach of where there is a small island away from the main land. Tying the boat up Shi Jin offer his hand but Mo Yeon hops off herself. Wow strong woman. Looking around she is amazed about the boat and how pretty of course he said for them to come back. He then pick up a rock and told her if you pick up a rock it would be good luck.
Mo Yeon not believing him states if everyone takes a rock then there won't be any rock anymore. Shi Jin said that people would have to come back to turn back the rock so they can revisit again. Real smooth, but I want to note the ship is litter with those white rocks. Also Song Joong Ki had written a nice message on one of the rocks for his friend Lee Kwang Soo. However, it make waves because people are making odd assumptions enough that a lot of photoshops have been done with kwang so face. XD
I bet you regret doing that Joong Ki! Though it is a touching thought! *clap hands*
Mo Yeon inform him that she cannot come back and it is better for him to have the rock because she has to go back to Korea and fight for her position and lively hood and also explain to him she was toss down because of people in power.
Back inside the base the medic team missing korean food so much. Doctor Song made korean food and told them to wait as he tries it. He then tell them to dig in but Chi Hoon said to wait and that he has to eat it separate, but he is upset when Doctor Song ate the egg and reinserted it back into the bowl.
Chi Hoon was on the phone with his wife and then freaked out when he is touched by a Uruk little boy that came from far away asking for food. However, the kid look pretty skinny and sick Chi Hoon was upset that the dirty hand touches his white shirt leaving a stain. The two cannot communicate well and in the end the kid keel over and threw up and passed out.
Mo Yeon and Shi Jin just returned and she started to examine the boy. She said it isn't pneumonia and it isn't malnutrition. She feel around to check the pain is between the liver and stomach. Shi Jin said it might be lead poisoning and Mo Yeon started to recall that the kids started to lick metal and asked if the kid kept on licking his fingers. Immediately she said for them to detoxify the child and to also give him IV. Chi Hoon was amazed that the Captain knew and ran off. Shi Jin made to leave and told her to tell him when the boy awakes he can speak a little of the language.
The two started to fight again with Mo Yeon trying to get him to go away and he said that a better doctor would know she said she isn't one of those doctors that know everything and he said that is true. She is just simply a tv doctor. OUCH. I guess Shi Jin is hurt enough to lash out on her that way.
FPCON alarm goes on and Dae Young informed Shi Jin that medicube would be having a VIP person coming along for treatment. The army is rounding up the doctors to get them to help treat the man coming. Immediate guns and equipment is pulled out and the Battalion commander is on the line with blue house and the general. They are talking and learning about who the VIP is and that he is the Arab leader.
The doctors are discussing and examining the man trying to determine what is wrong with him. However, the body guard show the prescription from the president doctor. This brings along a whole load of questions why the chart isn't given they insert and injected the prescription of the Arab doctors but the blood pressure is dropping. Checking the stomach Mo Yeon discover there is abdominal distention. Basically it means there is a weird formation of the stomach that it is puffy and that it could mean that intestine or something is bleeding inside or twisted. She said that the Arab people are hiding something in regard to the mans medical health. That they would need to open up the man up to see what is wrong and to correct it. Laparotomy which is tube insertion to view with camera. She said to prepare the operation room and made to move the man when the body guard said hands off. The body guard said they cannot let them operate on the Arab leader and that the president doctor would be there in one hour.
I do want to ask. If the doctor of the Arab leader doesn't arrive in time and the man dies in the medicube that look like something in Korean base would this be bad? Wouldn't the Koreans be held liable? Why bring the guy to their facilities if they got their own doctors and own location. Usually they would bring people to their own places or have a doctor on standby. I find this quite a questioning.
President Mubarat life is on the balance since the beeping is going like crazy and even though Mo Yeon is telling them that if she doesn't operate soon the guy would die in ten minutes tops. Which is rough when you think about it to operate or not to operate. If the guy dies without operation then no nobel peace prize and there would be break down in negotiations with the world. In addition the charts are not detailed and Mo Yeon because she deal with VIP patients is the type of doctors that exclude or black out medical conditions on charts. She is quite clever and would considering almost everything after this I am sure in regards to the President condition and just do rough look on the body and during surgery.
Guns are immediately pointed at Mo Yeon by the body guard of Mubarat. Mo Yeon states fine but she isn't trying to change history but she said if she takes her hands off the man would die. The president blood pressure is going down and the army battalion leader radio in through the ear piece.
He is telling Yoo Shi Jin that the President life is not important thing right now. The important thing is to discern who would be responsible for this. The Korean Battalion leader told him to let the Arabs have their way. If the president dies then the Korean can put the responsibility on the doctor who did not operate on her patient. The military force must not step into this incident. This is an order.
It's no wonder Shi Jin picked the way he did. Mo Yeon career would be in danger and I am starting to hate the Battalion leader but I understand the politics. However, I still believe regardless the responsibility is location discern if nothing is done. All the men heard what is going on and Shi Jin glances to Dae Young and he asked Mo Yeon if she can save the man. She recites a whole thing but he doesn't care about that he want to know if she can save him. The other side on radio is freaking out asking what he is doing.
Mo Yeon states she can save the man. That seal the deal with Shi Jin and he turns off the radio and takes it off then point his gun with the rest of his men at the bodyguards telling her to save him. For one woman he did pick to take her side and I acknowledge this since he doesn't want her to face consequences and so he points the gun even though disobeying directions and going against his command orders.
