Summary: When the world narrows in and the sense of loss that can occur scares the heart.
Myung Joo was taught many things by her sunbae (Senior), Kang Mo Yeon. How to do certain surgeries, however she admits she wasn't easy to teach and she made things difficult for her sunbae. Kang Mo Yeon was very information oriented and though Myung Joo wouldn't like to admit it. She still had tons to learn from her.
Epidemiological Surveillance after a natural disaster study guides always were shoved at her by Mo Yeon. She never could understand the thinking of her sunbae but later on realize that she was trying to help her.
The many places she may end up as a field medic would be in war situation to even natural disaster areas. She never thought much of it, however in the study guides they were always linked with the Pan American Health Organization and contains many other resources her sunbae piled together for her to read from scientific publications.
Myung Joo would be place through many questions such as 'surveillance of communicable diseases following a disaster is complicated by' of course being a hot shot she usually thought it was due to communicable diseases. Mo Yeon would hit her and tell her that it was because of lack of baseline data. The questions would go on and on a few others she came along was 'an infectious disease agent can be brought into a disaster area by' she answered relief worker. However, she messed up because it was all the above the answer in regards to transport vehicle and supplies.
There were many questions she had to study and reread in the book. Mo Yeon would impress upon her that in natural disaster area that diseases potentially introduce into areas affected by disaster relief workers are either new strains of influenza or diseases borne by insect vectors.
Myung Joo was grateful for all the mosquito repellents and Dae Young's concerns by instructing her to always wear her uniform to keep the bugs away.
However, when operating on that annoying man that burst into their medicube, she realizes there were many things she didn't know. Her simple action of clamping on something resulted in an explosion of blood.
She thought it was caused by the diamonds that the man had swallowed a fist load of all things. However, Mo Yeon stated that there was a tumor in the lymphatic gland that just popped.
"Lymph nodes (erroneously called lymph glands) are a part of the lymphatic system, a component of the body's immune system. Swollen lymph nodes may signal an infection.
There are several groups of lymph nodes, which are small, bean-shaped, soft nodules of tissue. The ones most frequently enlarged or swollen are found in the neck (a chain of lymph nodes is located in the front of the neck, the sides of the neck, and the back of the neck behind the ears), under the chin, in the armpits, and in the groin. There is also a large group of lymph nodes in the chest and abdomen, which are sometimes found to be enlarged on X-rays or CT scans."[1]
The Risk of infectious disease
in remote places were understandable, however her sunbae noticing that the
gland popped immediately told everyone to step back. She would have made
mistakes if it were not for Mo Yeon. She would have let others be infected and
continued if she didn't state that something else cause the lymphatic gland to
pop. Hypetrophy of the gland is dangerous meaning that it was infected enough
that the glands were overworking to try to fight the infections.
Mo Yeon's immediate diagnosis that
the man carried a viral influenza that is caused by M-type virus then telling
everyone else to leave that only those splash with the blood will continued the
surgery. Mo Yeon was specific in her instructions that once the surgery was
done they would have their blood taken with the patient to see if they were
infected with the M type virus. She admires how calm Mo Yeon was as they
continued to work to take out each diamond.
Myung Joo could understand her
father’s admiration of the woman’s work on the VIP and that the army was at
lost since she would have made an admirable soldier. With how stubborn and
precise her sunbae was Myung Joo understood that her father let Shi-Jin go
because the doctor was a high grade. If it was an air flight stewardess then
most likely her father wouldn’t have let the man go.
One by one they both picked out the
bloody red diamonds. It liter the tray with a clang, Myung Joo wonders if the
outside where the patient stay out at was infected and if so there might be
tons of other people out there ticking away like waiting time bombs.
The surgery was not as bad, they stabilize the man before they took a rest and Nurse Ja-ae came in to take their blood each. She noted the rush appearance of Dae Young with Shi Jin. Dae Young eyes were wide looking at only at her with anger and fear. Myung Joo took a quick look at Shi Jin then back at Dae Young, she knew that both men were in agony.
Myung Joo just wonder if this was her luck with Dae Young, all she could say is that he ran here faster than the stewardess parcel. She could see the anger in that serious man's face as he yells at her and the anguish. Did he regret? Did he understand?
Myung Joo wishes she could comfort
Dae Young but all she could do is look into those scare desperate eyes. A
strong man her Dae Young was but she didn’t want him to fear for her. All she
could do is be strong for him and not break down because even though she is
scare to death. It wasn’t death she fear but leaving behind this gentle soul.
She tries to lighten up the fear and scared looks on both men's faces.
Then attention was snapped to where
to get the blood vials tested the doctors outside the door were discussing and
she could only recall a military base. Stating out the suggestion she could see
Dae Young taking a glance at her and running away desperate to grab
transportation, Myung Joo understood very well that Dae Young didn’t know how
to fight an unseen assailant. Disease wasn’t something he knew how to combat
and it scared him. Shi Jin already was on the phone his eyes were red and there
was a wreck appearance she glances toward Mo Yeon and saw how her sunbae hand
fisted wanting to reach out and touch the door to reassure the man.
Then both men were gone quickly to
deliver the vials like they were the most precious cargo and Mo Yeon sat on a
stool next to her and both of them stare at the direction where a tray lay. Those
diamonds they pull out really are bloody diamonds. All she could do is talk to
keep her nerves steady, Mo Yeon was an interesting woman it was the reason why
she always try to get a rise out of her. That calm exterior that can stare out
sightlessly and the thoughts she couldn’t hear constantly pique her interest.
Just a conversation in regards to those diamonds and already Myung Joo felt
closer to her sunbae. Was facing death like this in the medical field drawing
her closer to the woman or was it because her sunbae had lowered her walls
since she started to date Shi Jin. There was camaraderie between the two of
them now when before it was just grinding sandpaper between the two of them.
Then the door opened with a rush and
slam and Dae Young is hugging her tightly. She felt his body trembling and
shaking around her and she was scared for him. Yelling he was insane to be
touching her if she had...then slowly awareness as to why he was hugging her.
Dae Young wouldn't be expressing this much passion unless something happened and hugging her did he want to die too?
All she could do is whisper, "It's me...isn't it?"
Slowly, it would began she understood the symptoms and infections. Shi Jin was looking at her blankly and she knew that he was handling things the way he would since it was her, but she wonder if he would be like Dae Young?
Closing her eyes, Myung Joo savors the tight hug, she could feel wetness on her shoulder and chooses to not say anything.
Was this...a test...when they just got her father's approval to date? Perhaps get married have children...was this the world laughing at them?
Hello there! Wow, boy are you fast. Thank you for both stories. I really liked this one. And I hope you didn't feel pressured to write them quickly because of my last comment. I only meant to encourage you :-)
ReplyDeleteHello again Winter! I apologize for the double post, I deleted one of them.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you posted here, because I personally find it hard to find stuff on Soompi, especially if there are many pages. I like it better here, so please keep your fanfic here, even if you end up posting them on Soompi.
I'm so glad you were encouraged by my posts. I love how introspective you can be, and how you let us hear the characters inner thoughts. I'm hoping that at some point, you will write some romantic stuff and scenes for the two couples, and I trust that you will keep their reactions in character. I read some of your bromance stuff and I like one couple, and the other not so much. I find the guy rough, even in the intimate scenes. But then again, I have not watched the show...
So, if I may ask, if at some point you write something romantic for DotS, could you please make SDY and YSJ puppies in the hands of their girls? I love that SDY is all tough on the outside, but really a softie when it comes to YMJ, or so I hope. I also get the feeling that he hasn't dated much, so seeing him fumbling in how to be a good boyfriend, and later on a great husband would be awesome:-)
And I just love how YSJ is with KMY, always letting her know how he feels about her, so maybe you could use that. I also see both men being gentle and sensitive to their women's needs and feelings during intimate moments, so if you go that far (however far you decide to take it is up to you. It would be nice if they are married first, for the really really intimate stuff), so I hope they won't be rough, like one of the guys in bromance.
I did appreciate however that you didn't sugarcoat things during the after wedding night scene. Sex hurts for most women the first time, and I found your depiction in that regard realistic. Most movies or stories make it sound like it is always this great experience. I also loved that he kept apologizing to her, letting her know that he knew it was painful, and he didn't mean to hurt her, and yet couldn't avoid it. In that sense he cared, and he showed it. I don't want to tell you how to write your stories, however I hope my comments are helping.
I wish you the best in all your endeavours in life :-)
Hello Sylvie,
DeleteThank you for deleting the duplicate post. Normally, I would go in myself to delete, however I do it at such a slow pace. I admit that fan fiction writing is a subtle approach of trying to understand the in and outs of a person. It’s not forceful but an art that requires information so that character writing can be well placed.
I understand DOTS Soompi speed is incredibly fast. It worries me when they hit the thread number and the thread may be closed. I vaguely remember this happening to another series but I could be wrong, they may have increased the size.
Bromance Fan Fiction is pretty dead on with a character, there are moment of gentleness and roughness in the film. I do try to keep the characters in context it feels like a betrayal if I deviate too far, but with my luck like all writers we tend to go beyond the call of duty. XD
I am still getting the feeling for all of these characters in DOTS so I would be able to write them for the romantic aspects. I usually write a few stories first to gain perspective of the character and also because since I have watched the episodes. It makes it inevitable that I start to reflect and talk to the characters in my mind.
Well it depends on YSJ and KMY in regards to roughness or less, but by what I can deviate they aren’t really that violent. I think there were few things in regards to movie magic in night scenes and the realistic aspects. I suppose for me…I will probably do movie magic style for some of the younger readers that like fluff and realistic for the others. I will note to put in the warnings lol
However, thank you very much for the pleasant comments and suggestions. I find it utterly helpful and don’t feel offended at all.
I do confess. I mostly feel scatter brain so it’s a warning if you get things written at 2am in the morning that sound like I am lacking sleep and out of it.

Is it waiting to be love by someone that difficult? Many people says it is best to be loved rather than you loved someone. In actual, in love consist of 80% sadness and 20% happiness because of longing, waiting, sacrifices, adaptation and comprehending. Myung Joo has gone through some...
ReplyDeleteI think that is why those stories by Shakespeare gets to most of the crowd because there is always struggles that happen in a relationship.
