Chapter 4Pairing:Wei Qing Yang/Qing Nana
Summary: I said… I can be your family. I’ll laugh with you when you’re happy and I’ll cry with you when you are upset.
The days passed by and Qing Yang gotten use to the constant
greetings from the hyper little bundle of joy. The wind chime tones in his shop
and he peers up, to see a smiling Yang Na Na. The sun was just setting and he
already place up the close sign.
It
was already growing late and he wanted to spend time with his friend, he was
also expecting the man to bring along his shadow.
Yang
Na Na set herself onto the stool and lean forward watching him, she watches him
prepare the snacks for his friends. It warmed him; he had friends more than
one, besides Zi Feng. Quirking an
eyebrow, he watches Na Na write on a piece of paper. She seems to be carrying a
few strange things in her pouch. His eyes linger on the bag, it looks tattered,
and he needed to find out when her birthday is and to get her a gift.
Na
Na’s clothes look old too, though they weren’t as bad they look like some
granny’s style clothes. He pauses in his stirring of the coffee in the funnel
glasses and flash, why would he consider purchasing something for her? It felt
weird this feeling. However, he saw Pi Ya Nuo’s changes of clothes when he met
up with them.
Zi
Feng wasn’t hiding himself from cherishing his sworn brother. However, it amaze
him at the protest that Ya Nuo would put up, perhaps his friend was right. This
little guy wasn’t one to take his friend for money. Instead he was special. His
own eyes slid over to Yang Na Na face as she slid over the paper. ‘Please give
me a clean coffee.’
No
instead of asking for materialistic stuff, she only wanted him for his coffee.
He faces away and brought the paper to his face, her hand writing was neat and
small. A realization slid over him he slid out a tape and tape it to the
counter side to look at it. Qing Yang was fine with that a coffee wasn’t as
expensive and it never went to waste with her.
“Too
much caffeine would be bad for you.” Qing Yang said he watches her expressive
eyes and lips.
“I
am tired from working hard. Come on let me have some…” Na Na claps her hands
together whilst begging; he could see the appeal of her.
Relenting
Qing Yang slid out the cup and enjoy her sound of glee, he also reached behind
him and set food for her to consume. He watches her eat taking in her happy
looks.
Na
Na finishes eating the food while he watches her, taking in her spooning of the
soup he made for her. She didn’t finish the food, which worries him at her
appetite.
“You
should eat more.” Qing Yang reminds.
Na
Na gave self-conscious shrug of her shoulder, “it’s okay I will bring some home
later. But we are going to eat with your buddies right?”
Perhaps
Qing Yang wouldn’t be too far away from his thoughts of her as Ya Nuo was to Zi
Feng. They both found a piece of companionship in this lonely world.
The
door swung open the bell just tinkle, Qing Yang frowns at that as he slid the
coffee to Na Na, he then shook his head. There was something wrong with his
door.
Zi
Feng approaches and lean over, “Hey, we are here!” His ebony eyes slid over to
peer at Na Na, “Ah you are here too!”
“Yeah!
Sorry for the intrusion, General Manager.” Na Na nods her head in respect.
Zi
Feng eyes twinkle with a teasing light, “No intrusion, don’t be so polite. Besides,
Qing Yang needs all the company, his too lonely.”
Na
Na glances to Zi Feng then unsure to Qing Yang. Qing Yang wanted to murder his
friend, he wasn’t that lonely right?
Ya
Nuo said lightly, “Zi Feng, stop teasing them.”
Walking over and started to glance at the counter, “I’ll help set up
near the coffee table.” Ya Nuo picked up
the beer and slid it over, Na Na feeling the tension quickly stood up, “I’ll
help!”
The
two went to work and Qing Yang turned to Zi Feng, “You…”
“You
like her.” Zi Feng waves his hand as he lean forward closer to Qing Yang,
“Seriously, haven’t you consider?”
“She
is a friend.” Qing Yang said.
Zi
Feng narrows his eyes, “Qing Yang you told me that you care for her. Don’t tell
me its pity? You said she was originally sick.”
“It’s
not that!” Qing Yang hisses.
Zi
Feng sighs and pulls back, “Fine, I won’t push you on the subject.” His eyes
soften to watch Ya Nuo interact with Na Na. “I can just steal her for Ya Nuo…”
He teases, “They both look like they get along.”
Qing
Yang stiffens, but relaxes at Zi Feng’s just kidding. Qing Yang grabs the snack
tray and went over to the set up couch and coffee table. He moves two chairs
nearby in case the others wanted to sit there. The four of them already opened
a can of beer and took a sip.
Ya
Nuo asked, “Did you both already eat?”
“Yes,
Qing Yang has cooked me some food. I feel fortunate.” Na Na said happily.
Ya
Nuo expression was surprise at Na Na’s words, “Qing Yang knows how to cook?”
Qing
Yang was surprised that Na Na was praising his cooking, she normally came over
after work and he always kept some of the food portion for her. She was skinny
and he could see the circles under her eyes it worried him she would faint. He
sneak a look at Zi Feng and notice his friend face darken in jealously. Qing
Yang nods his head at Zi Feng’s reaction, he suppose the guy was greedy for Ya
Nuo’s attention and praise.
However,
Qing Yang bet that Zi Feng would use those cuisine skills of his to show him
up. They both attended a cooking school before, since he had to learn how to
cook besides boiling ramen. His parents both were gone, and Uncle Tian thought
it would be a good idea. Zi Feng just accompanies him to spend time together
and besides it would be a good skill.
The
Du Family cooking was mostly to the mother of the house and Zi Han wasn’t that
great. He recalled the cookies she tried to give to him, it was charcoal black.
Since Uncle Du’s disappearance, Feng Jie never wanted to make any food for her
children as much. So both had to fend for themselves, it was good Zi Feng learn
how to cook.
Ya
Nuo stated gently, “He’s such a virtuous man. Let me try if it’s tasty.”
Qing
Yang quickly left before he got stabbed by Zi Feng and grab the papers from
behind the counter to distract the man. “Here is the information you asked me
to investigate.”
Zi
Feng taking it absentmindedly said, “Thank you.”
Oh
he was safe for now. Qing Yang thought. He lean against the chair and peered at
Zi Feng’s reaction.
Ya
Nuo watch Zi Feng notices his darken expression, “What’s wrong?” The photos
were flipped through quickly then place onto the table unhappily.
Zi
Feng said grimly, “Do you still remember the first time we met?” He took a deep
breath, “On the day when I was attacked?”
Ya
Nuo nods, “Yes.”
Qing
Yang glances quick to Na Na, noticing her interest in the subject, he never did
tell her about their families’ history and that Zi Feng was the triad leader.
Zi
Feng must have trusted Na Na by now, his instincts were scary. Qing Yang
considers as Zi Feng continues, “Actually for the past few years, my family has
been running the amusement park. We are no longer involved in the underworld
business. We didn’t offend anyone, so I was surprised when I was attacked.”
Na
Na crossed her legs and tilted her head in question.
Qing
Yang spoke out, “And also the false magazine report. It was probably a
deliberate instigation.” He rub his chin in thought, it did make sense that
this was out of the ball park. They all were so careful.
Ya
Nuo points at the pictures, “So you are saying someone was tasked to harm Zi
Feng?”
Qing
Yang had to give points to Ya Nuo for her ability to connect the dots.
Considering Ya Nuo was selling hot dogs at the beginning and ended up picking
up the skills quickly to work with Zi Feng, doesn’t mean the guy was stupid.
Zi
Feng voice caught his attention, “Whoever dares to touch me, I will find him,
no matter how strong that opponent is.”
This
was why Zi Feng was a leader the charisma and actions he would take to protect
his family.
Ya
Nuo jumping up, “I will help you.” Indeed Zi Feng selected a person that was
virtuous.
Qing
Yang feeling the emotions lifted the can of beer, “Me too.”
Zi
Feng and Ya Nuo also lifted their beer and took a drink for it all.
Na
Na shifted in her space looking at all three, “The relationship between the
three of you is really good. I’m so envious.”
Zi
Feng quickly slid his eyes over to Na Na then Qing Yang, “Qing Yang’s parents
are friends with my parents, so he’s considered a good brother who grew up with
me since young.” Qing Yang nods his head in agreement; it was true he was with Zi
Feng for a while. “Although I only got to know PI Ya Nuo recently, after a
chain of events, we are a family closer than any other biological brothers
now.” Zi Feng slapped Ya Nuo shoulder in a clasp. Qing Yang was envious of
their bond that grew in such a short amount of time.
Ya
Nuo slapped Zi Feng back they both smiled at one another.
The
conversation of his parents made Qing Yang feel uncomfortable when Na Na slid
her gaze over to him, "Qing Yang, What about your parents?"
There was the issue that made him so sad and unhappy but he knew he couldn’t keep it away from her. Qing Yang sighs, “Seven years ago, they went missing.” Qing Yang wasn’t able to continue.
Zi
Feng blows out a sigh knowing his friend’s pain and picked up the topic, “Qing
Yang’s parents and my dad went to settle some matters at Shi Yuan Island, but
they didn’t come back.”
Qing
Yang picked up his beer and took another gulp of it, this conversation still
hurt.
Ya
Nuo glance at them, “You and Qing Yang are really close.”
Na
Na started to call out his name drawing his attention, “Qing Yang.” She pets the wood arm rest of the couch she
was on.
Qing
Yang glances to Zi Feng and Ya Nuo seeing their speculating glances, “Huh?”
Na
Na continued to pat the couch in a demanding tone, “Come here.”
Relenting
he went over and sat on the side panel of the cough humming out in question.
Wondering what else was going through that head of Na Na’s especially in front
of the other two.
Na
Na slid her arm through his and lean closer, “I can be your family.” She looks
so sincere when she said those words, her eyes gentle as she tugs him
closer.
Turning
his head, Qing Yang could only say, “Huh?”
Already
Zi Feng’s eyes met Ya Nuo’s almost asking in question whether or not this was
some sort of proposal. Becoming ones family could be mistaken to being married
to the person or even being sworn as sibling. A declaration of that with
witnesses wasn’t a small matter at all. Both glances over wondering how Qing
Yang would take it, then again they both wouldn’t interrupt unless they needed
to push him forward.
Na
Na repeated again, “I said… I can be your family.” Already Zi Feng watches Qing
Yang face, noticing he wasn’t rejecting her offer, nor accepting, that was how
Qing Yang was.
Na
Na continuing on bravely, “I’ll laugh with you when you are happy and I’ll cry
with you when you are upset."
Zi
Feng knew his friend wasn’t the type to take risk or jump into it. Qing Yang
glancing to him for approval or disapproval. Zi Feng knew if he didn’t
interfere then Qing Yang would mess this up. His friend never could take
initiative in something he wanted, “Qing Yang, Na Na’s suggestion isn’t that
bad.” He didn’t want his friend to be lonely and he could tell that his friend
was more alive now. He just couldn’t
pass it up.
Zi
Feng as the head could acknowledge this bond, quite easily; it was sort of like
the head being asked for permission to get married or something. He was
inwardly laughing at poor Qing Yang. This little girl wasn’t that dumb. Would
Qing Yang not understand what she was saying? Observing his friend, he would
say yes, indeed his friend would be dense on the matter.
Na
Na let go of Qing Yang arms and look away complaining, “Hey…I don’t just
randomly become someone else’s family member. I genuinely think that you are a
nice person, so I came up with this suggestion.”
Zi
Feng eyes lit, her response was similar to Ya Nuo’s when he accepted that they
weren’t bad people. Na Na wasn’t bad, he could see how she could fit right in
easily, almost like a missing piece was slotting into the right place. Already,
he could plot to get his friend Qing Yang to live a little compare to before.
Qing
Yang couldn’t help but accept, “Okay.”
Na
Na beams, “It’s a deal then!” Qing Yang’s continued nodding amuses the hell out
of Zi Feng. His friend wasn’t easy to bully into agreeing to anything.
Ya
Nuo started to consider their relations then spoke up, “Since ZI FENG and I are
sworn brothers, and QING YANG is good friends with ZI FENG since young…NN is QING
YANG’s kin, so the four of us are considered a family?”
Zi
Feng liking the idea so much in excitement after eating some peanuts grabbed
his beer can, already spotting the intention the other three pulled out their
cans. Clinking the cans together and drinking. Zi Feng feeling great put his
arm out signaling to Qing Yang.
This
drew the attention of Na Na and Ya Nuo whom glances at the gesture confused.
Unable to resist Qing Yang place his hand on top of Zi Feng. It’s been a while
since they played this game.
Ya
Nuo turned her head to Zi Feng and asked, “What does that mean?”
Zi
Feng lean closer and closer to Ya Nuo and spoke, “It is a little game I play
with Qing Yang since young. We’ll see who finish the drink at one go.”
Ya
Nuo feeling competitive glance over to Na Na. “Yang Na Na, can you do it?”
Na
Na flutter her eyes in surprise then glances to Qing Yang quick before placing
her hand on top of their bundle, “Of course!”
Ya
Nuo speaking out joined their hands together, “Who’s afraid? Come on!”
Then
all four started to chug, Qing Yang and Zi Feng set his own beer can down
before Ya Nuo. Na Na was lagging and trying to swallow giving a small burp.
Qing
Yang not wanting to see her struggle grab the beer can and drained the rest for
her. She was his now, so he needed to help her.
Ya
Nuo touched praise, “Great. This is what family means. “
Qing
Yang couldn’t help but feel warm from that statement, whereas Zi Feng added in,
“Oh right. This weekend, QING YANG and I will be out for a camping trip. Do you
want to join us?”
Na
Na exclaimed happily, “Okay!” Qing Yang almost forgot about that trip they were
going to take he would have to make sure the girl brought the right stuff.
Ya
Nuo reaction drew attention of Zi Feng, “What? You don’t like it?” He grew
curious if Ya Nuo hated hiking like Zi Han.
Ya
Nuo look flushed, “No…I’ve never been to a camping trip before.”
Zi
Feng exclaiming, “It’s your first time, again?” He was looking at Ya Nuo in
disbelief but inches closer.
Ya
Nuo mouth open surprised at Zi Feng’s acting, “Huh?” Zi Feng warmed into a sour
look of disbelief.
Zi
Feng was putting on a show by what Qing Yang could tell, to tease Ya Nuo, “Pi
Ya Nuo, it seems like you’ve given a lot of your “first time” to me. “
Ah
there it is, Qing Yang thought, his friend must be enjoying himself teasing his
sworn brother. Qing Yang tries to repress
his smile from it all.
Ya
Nuo embarrassed expression from those words, “What are you talking about?”
Na
Na puffs her cheek out whereas Qing Yang couldn’t help cross his arms.
Zi
Feng said with a breathless sigh, “I didn’t say anything wrong.” He was gearing
up for his argument, “Your first official job…”
Ya
Nuo looked away at that because it was quite true as Zi Feng held up a finger
waving it to emphasize his points.
Zi
Feng continued whereas Qing Yang continues to agree with his nod, since he
could see Ya Nuo’s lacking of a social life, “Your first time climbing a
mountain, your first time at the hot springs…your first time tying a necktie
and your first time…”
Na
Na perked up expression of curiosity since she went over the list of what Zi
Feng was saying.
Ya
Nuo slow shaking head back and forth, “No…”
Zi
Feng couldn’t help but earn more of these protesting expressions, “There is
nothing to be shy of. I gave you my first…to you too.” He said with vigor, Na
Na’s eyes were wide as she watches the two.
Ya
Nuo wave her hand in rejection while fanning, “What are you talking about?”
Na
Na unable to hold back her curiousness eagerly leans forward, “First, what?”
Qing
Yang couldn’t help smiling at this. While Zi Feng’s eyes narrow into slits of
intentions as he observes Na Na as he gears up to make a strong announcement,
while Ya Nuo was waving hand around trying to deny.
Zi
Feng announces with intensity to Na Na, “First time two guys locking lips
together!”
Na
Na mouth drops open, her eyelashes flutter up and down several times in
disbelief, “KISS?”
Qing
Yang couldn’t help place his hand to his eyebrow and rub it; already he could
see the intense blow out from this teasing. Na Na was being subjected to
barraging of Zi Feng’s corrupt influence. Twenty two and already being informed
of man on man kissing, either he is going to deal with a fan girl for yaoi, or
something else entirely. He didn’t know what to say in these circumstances.
Ya
Nuo cheek bones flew higher as she denied, “It was an accident.”
Zi
Feng’s face was all smiles but switch to shaking his head at Ya Nuo’s words.
Trying to convince Na Na with his eyes that what they did was all real.
Na
Na glances back and forth to the two, “How does it feel like when a man kisses
a man?” This made Zi Feng even more excited to death since Na Na believed him and
already Ya Nuo was losing in argument.
Ya
Nuo blocks Zi Feng quickly from answering, “Don’t ask. You’ll be scared.”
Already Ya Nuo was planning a retreat from this conversation, “Wei Qing Yang,
are you hungry? I’ll cook instant noodles for you.”
Qing
Yang was already shaking his head in denial of wanting to eat ramen, but
already Ya Nuo got up.
Zi
Feng unhappy that Ya Nuo ran away focus back onto Na Na as he geared up for
more spluttering of the kiss.
Zi
Feng announces with flare, “Na Na, let me tell you. It is extremely exciting
when two men lock lips.”
Ya
Nuo quickly came back unable to listen to Zi Feng corrupt anyone else
especially the nice girl and grabbed her, “Yang Na Na, come and help me.”
Already dragging her away, “Come.”
Zi
Feng looked pleased.
Ya
Nuo continued, “Do you know? Cooking noodles is simple take the cup of noodle,
remove the plastic, pour in the water, cover the lid, and serve. “
Qing
Yang turns his attention to Zi Feng, “Was that too fun?”
Zi
Feng gave a smile, “Quite. With Ya Nuo I feel that every day is fun. His
reaction is great and always makes me smile. Your new member is quite nice
too.”
“It
isn’t that…” Qing Yang began but Zi Feng coughs.
Zi
Feng started, “We already agreed, she is yours now so take care of her, and we
will also look after her when we can.” He leans forward, “Uncle Tian should be
happy that you are connecting to more people. Since she is now considering your
family, he will be happy you have a friend coming over a lot.” He points to the
counter back area, “I saw the food you made her.”
Qing
Yang mouth closed and he look away.
“You
spent years recreating your parents bone rib soup.” Zi Feng said, “That takes a
day to make…” He lean back, “Who do you think you are talking too?” He
whispers, “I am your best friend.”
Qing
Yang glances over, “You will keep an eye on her while she is working in your
place?”
Zi
Feng pants his chest, “Leave it to me. Don’t worry.” He said, “I will assign
someone to keep watch, but not get too close to your girl.”
Qing
Yang said evenly, “She is family.”
“That
is true, but time will tell.” Zi Feng said, “I will be waiting for happy news.”
Qing
Yang hit Zi Feng in the arm.
