CHAPTER 2
Already, he was dressed in his characters finest, though he prefer the comfortable clothes of tank tops, he didn’t think he look bad at all, tugging on the black vest he had over a white shirt, he lounge against the chair while crossing his leg. He coughs to gain the attention of his partner as he like to call his love interest. Baron slumps in his chair and sighs earning a look from Megan.
“What’s wrong?” Megan asked normally Baron doesn’t sigh, well at least in front of her.
“I just wish that this script could just read itself.” Baron presses his hand to his forehead being dramatic, “I really don’t like reading so much.”
Megan quirked an eyebrow at how dramatic Baron was being, “And the script is now your enemy?”
“Well look here at this scene! Du Zi Feng figure standing near a cliff with water flying onto the cliff. End dash with monologue of promise talking to father.” Baron cringes and shudders,
“It’s a long monologue, look at these paragraphs!” He flashes the page at Megan for her to look at his script.
Megan glances through it, “You have the beginning scene for the opening of the drama and you aren’t pleased?”
Baron grumbles and waves his hands, “Heaven help me!”
Megan tosses her head back and push the bangs back from her face, “If someone read it for you, can you remember it?”
“If you read it ten times for me.” Baron flashes his puppy eyes at Megan. Megan pauses from that and presses the script above her eyes.
“Ah don’t do that!” Megan cries out and flaps the page at Baron. “I won’t read it ten times, but I can at least read the monologue for you now. Since the director called a break.”
“Would you?” Baron straightens his back and looks eager. “Thank you!”
Megan clears her throat and started to read, “Dad, I remember one time when you ask me what one needs to be the boss.”
She pauses, “I replied that he should be able to fight.” Her face became serious as she focuses on the part in front of her.
“In the end, you gave me a hard slap. You grabbed my shoulder and told me to be fearless is to fear. Back then I really didn’t understand. But now I know why. Fear comes from being worried about your family and brothers. And being fearless is to have the courage to protect them. So after you left, I tried to get everyone back onto the right track and end the days of killing. I know I have mom and Zi han by my side and also a group of brothers.”
Megan glances up from the monologue, “There is more….do you need me to go on?”
Baron stares at Megan, “You—“ He wave his finger at Megan, “Are quite cool.”
“Are you saying that because of how I look now?” Megan gave a smirk already getting use to the character of Pi Ya Nuo.
Baron clutches his chest and rubs it, his heart had skipped a bit, words fail him on how Megan’s face warped to something alluring and yet confusing.
“Oh no….no.” He said slyly, “Not at all.” He flashes a smile and considers the lucky break he had. If only he could get Megan to read his script then he could focus on his part easily.
After few minutes reading he started to feel bored. He looked at Megan and he pinch her waist. Suddenly she screams and gives him an angry look.
“You done it on purpose, is it?” Megan asks in angry tone but Baron chuckle hearing her tone.
Baron gives her a quick answer “I was bored, let’s play.”
Megan look at him with puzzle expression “Are you so free to play now? What are you wanted to play?”
With happy smile Baron said “Rock, Paper, scissors?” He makes a gesture to start playing with Megan. Megan sign and start paying with him. They have fun paying the childish game and sometimes Baron will make a simple mistake and she will laugh. Baron looks sorely at her. Her laugh was like music to his ears.
The musical lilt of her voice, the rhythm of her speech, the sound of her words, it all spread through him, calming him, comforting him. Chaining him sweetly.
