Chapter 1

Wei Qing Yang.

Wei Qing Yang.

Wei Qing Yang.

Wei Qing Yang.

Wei Qing Yang.

Each word spoken with a clear crisp voice called him from the gloomy storm of his thoughts. Gentle. Welcoming warm presence tingling with bubbles of laughter a small tug around his waist where white arms wrapping around him.

These were dreams that echoed into Qing Yang life. She blew into his life like a gentle breeze, while he was not paying attention and she stole into his heart.

The first meeting, as he wanted to label it, was not astonishing. He was on a cruise with his friend Du Zi Feng and his friend’s family members. The noise level elevated when his friends new sworn brother PI Ya Nuo and his girlfriend came along. It was going to get loud and he excused himself. The cruise boat had a nice lobby he discovered early on.

With care he had taken his coffee making kit to the lobby and wanted to enjoy a nice brew, before anymore issues cropped up. Setting up his items carefully, he was settling the grounded beans into the filter paper, and started to pour the first drops of hot liquid into the funnel. When a young girl of twenty appears beside him and self-imposes herself into his quiet time.

Without introducing herself her immediate comment was ‘It’s such a strong coffee scent.’ She wasn’t bad looking, conservative dressed with long ebony hair; already he was trying to figure out why she would approach him.

When her focus went onto him, he quickly looked away and went back to focusing on his coffee. She was an oddity he concluded. Though he later amended she was quite blunt and rash in her behavior when requesting if she can have a cup of his coffee.

Qing Yang wasn’t sure how he should feel about this young lady. Perhaps she was a beggar maybe a thief, he ponders at the time. Ignoring her antics he continued to pour the hot water and make his coffee.

However, her moving forward to breathe in the smell as he pour, surprised him. He wonders why his quiet, aloof manner didn’t manage to scare her away. Her next few comments on the coffee quirk his interest as she tries to guess what sort of coffee he was making. He hoped she would get the hint and go away, but slowly as she chatter, he didn’t find it bothersome as much.

Even as she call out coffee names such as Mandheling, Brazilian coffee but then conclude that it was Mambo coffee. Her compliments and knowledge of coffee wasn’t bad, and her observations that he was a barista to claiming she was also a barista. Made him question if once again what she wants.

The tone and glee in her voice over the thought of the coffee was something different. Normally, when he was hit on, the women that found him attractive would try to talk to him. However, this girl that linger was difference that her topic wasn’t on asking him out.

Instead she wanted to steal his coffee. Of course he would draw away his coffee from her; he took the time and effort to create this brew. He would be drinking it, instead of this random girl.

She kept on babbling that she would pay and won’t let the coffee go to waste, but it was his coffee and he wave his hand to smell the gentle aroma, already relaxing, and perhaps teasing her.

But then he was intrigue on why she would want to tell him about her secret. So he felt he would indulge her. What Qing Yang didn’t expect would be her telling him that she is sick, and that the doctors said her condition wasn’t good.

Was this for real? She sounded so serious when she talked to him, and he grew concern and soft for someone that could be pitiful, until she swung her hand forward to swipe his coffee. Then he felt irritated and unhappy, she started to dissect his coffee after drinking it.

Sighing inwardly, he couldn’t exactly yell at her, but then he felt stupid after all she tricked him. At that time, he couldn’t comment on the thieving, but all he could do is pack up and leave. After all, at that time he wanted to get away even as she called after him.

Perhaps, it was the first time someone picked his coffee, and even swiped anything of his away so easily. He was the only son of his parents, and didn’t really have to fight other kids for what he own from his parents.
He wasn’t being petty as she called after him. He was making a strategic retreat.

The Second time he meet her, he could see her standing there picture perfect with her red sweater crossed over her shoulders, staring out to the sea. He felt a need to talk to her, after a night sleep he felt her to be funny, the incident wasn’t as bad as it seems. However, he resisted the urge and simply walked away.

The change in his behavior didn’t register at that time; he didn’t really think anything of it at the time. The desire to go seek someone even after accidentally meeting, especially of someone of the opposite gender, it wasn’t like the feelings he had when finding his friend to go hang out.

The third moment they met he was starting to wonder if she was stalking him. She didn’t blow in like a gentle breeze rather she was like a hurricane coming at him with full energy. He was right to think she was fooling him that she was sick. Screaming the words ‘God of Special Coffee!’ he wasn’t sure if he should take that as a compliment of call the police on her.

At least this time she greeted him with his friends, of course he felt discomforted by this. His friend Zi Feng asked him if she was his friend and of course he would say no. They only just met after all. He admits now that he was feeling spiteful at the time, crossing his arms and trying to ignore the little he wasn’t sure what to label her.

She of course had to claim he treated her to coffee and he felt quite upset stating bluntly she stole his coffee, but the sly little mink. Yes! That was an appropriate label for her. Ended up compliment his coffee that it was so delicious that she couldn’t help herself, it was ludicrous and bold.

Qing Yang would have squirm, but already he felt the fates were conspiring at the time against him. His friend had to announce to the girl called Yang Na Na that he has his own coffee store but prior before that he found out that she was now his friend’s employee. Worse was her demanding request that he bring coffee to her if he comes to see his friend on the amusement park.

All he could do is run away and he knew Zi Feng was laughing at him. It wasn’t fair! Zi Feng probably was getting back at him for the comment to Pi Ya Nuo that Zi Feng would be a terrible boss.

The fourth meeting was like a gust of wind that set off his wind chimes of his store door. She learned his name somehow and even was watching him; he could feel his emotions tilt as he continued his work. She wasn’t bad when she chattered now and her compliments were not over the top.

When she called his name ‘Wei Qing Yang,’ he did not feel it was bad it was smooth and gentle, and even though his employee was trying to make Na Na go away. She turns things around and said she would like a clean coffee. Of course, the mocking from his employee as a barista he couldn’t let that comment go. So he explained that it was another name for black coffee.

When she took a sip of the coffee, Qing Yang waited for her response, after all he was good at coffee making but he was taught by a master, his Uncle Xing Tian. However, from her first sip and pausing to look at him surprise, then once again another sip, he grew anxious.

Was there something wrong with his coffee?

The face was nostalgia when she comment that it taste like her mother’s coffee. Was he supposed to take this as a compliment, but her feels were so sad and also happy, perhaps he felt pitiful for her. The missing of his mother he could empathize with. He missed his own two parents too and that was a link that he could feel with her.

Then again, her panic expression that she was late, and leaving, and like a breeze flurry out of the door he wasn’t able to open his mouth at all to say something to her.

The comments from his employee that the girl was weird and that she came and passed, like the wind. Made him want to smile, because it was quite true, she was a force to be reckoned with.

But a cold splash of water in his face was when his employee asks him if she paid and he felt like a heed, being fooled once again by her. Why did this keep on happening?

He never ran after any women, he never chased after someone before, but when he caught up to her. He wonders why she was standing there. The fainting was the last thing to come to mind, he felt his heart stop at that moment. Hurrying along he picked her up, she wasn’t light because she was limp and slippery to keep in his arms as he brought her to the hospital.

The announcement by the doctor that seen her was a shock. She wasn’t lying to him at all. Yang Na Na was telling the truth. She has anemia from bone cancer illness previously, and though he couldn’t tell the doctor he was a stranger, simply just a stranger. All he could do is just stand there and take in the information.

Approaching her room, he felt a complex range of emotions, a part of him felt pity for her and whereas another felt sadness at someone so young being this sick. How it was someone with such a sickness could smile as happily and bright? Na Na was nothing like the other girls, as she talked she sounded so optimistic and though he listen to her talking. He couldn't believe this wasn't all pretenses, he lost his parents the last seven years and he couldn't ever feel the careful smiles like he use too at the thought of them being gone.

Na Na acts childish, Qing Yang could figure out. He couldn’t believe that she wasn’t feeling sad when she talked to her arms like the disease could understand her. Qing Yang wonders if she was pretending to be strong and positive but her explanation that there was no point in being sad, life happens and it was better to face forward. Observant little thing, Na Na told him he was special, because instead of telling her to be happy or cheer up. He told her that it was alright to be sad.  He couldn’t help but draw closer to her.
Maybe he felt guilty by his behavior prior in suspecting her and feeling she was a pest. It's highly probable that he felt she could see the real him, that was inside this quiet facade. So he offers to do anything she wants with him. Her strange request of paper and a marker wasn’t exactly what he was expecting. He thought she would ask to go places or see stuff, but her request was simple.

Qing Yang couldn’t help but find her funny. She draws a strange ugly picture and wrote words, she wasn’t common, and he almost fear that she was pretending and really wanted to kill herself. But she prove herself stronger, when she said it wasn't like she wanted to fall over, instead she wanted to make wishes with these airplanes.

A creative way of thought, Qing Yang thought. Flying an airplane to get rid of her illness, what sort of girl was this? All he could do is call her smart, and her quick words that she wasn't afraid of pain, instead was afraid of unyielding people. It was quite true; he could respect her for her shouts of living. A slip of a girl crying out for God to hear her pleas; the courageous cries of someone wanting to live, all he could say in reassurance that God would receive her message, he couldn’t help but feel she was strong.

Stronger then even him, if he was in her place he wasn’t sure if he could be like her.

A playful smile slid over his face at her innocent question of what to do with all of the other papers, he couldn’t help but help her fold a battalion of airplanes to sail into the sky. To help her chances to tell God her wishes to live.

She manages to slip through the cracks of his mask, and the surprise he felt on request of borrowing his shoulder, he couldn’t help but look at her. Sick as she was she continued to look forward and he could admire her for that very much. Qing Yang wishes he could be like her, bold, courageous, to shout to the world as this small girl did.

Qing Yang couldn’t help accompany her on a walk afterwards, concern if she was exhausted, but she was happy. Though her request from him if she could come along and drink the coffee that taste like her mother’s coffee, it was curious because why she couldn’t drink her mother’s coffee?

Did she run away? Qing Yang asked and learning her mother ran away to heaven was a gentle way. He slowly realizes she was keeping her mother’s promises though her mother was gone.

Qing Yang didn’t know if he could continue to make the coffee for her and being sick it would cost a lot of money for someone like her. Perhaps since she was like him a barista he could teach her to make the coffee.
Sometimes, it’s true no one knows what they have until they lost it. He wanted to erase the sadness for her face, so he brought her back to learn how to make coffee. Each time they try one by one, he keeps on encouraging her.

One by one, even though it was a waste of product, he wanted her to succeed. Na Na wasn’t bad looking, she had a goal with him beside her accompany her to make it. Then finally, she succeeded, he thought perhaps she would smile so happily at it, but his chest felt this bitter sweetness at her single tear.

Na Na’s confession that before when her mother wanted to teach her and that she didn’t want to learn because as long as she couldn’t learn it, her mother would have to brew it for her to drink. By what he could deduce her little wishes was to keep her mother beside her constantly, so the introspective she was quite ill like Na Na. Na Na wanted her mother to stay with her. It was a petty way to try to make her mother stay, but life wasn’t that way and she disappear to the stars.

Qing Yang giving her the handkerchief and the drying of tears, it was touching for him, the way she said that she met him was like fate set up by her mother. The meeting on the cruise and meeting him so she could taste her mother’s coffee and finding a way to make her own mothers coffee, Qing Yang couldn’t help but feel touched.

He could respect a girl that loves her family member that was gone. She wasn’t appearing as annoying anymore, human life is short and each moment especially those were sick are like fireworks that spark so beautifully before they disappear as quick as the eye could see.

    1. *pets LuLu* I think you are Lulu O.o

I was taking a vacation from detail, but I ended up working on it, since I went crazy from the Ep 15 Preview.

Also thanks for the supportive message. I would post in the board, but I don't really know how to do so. I figure blog style was better for me. XD

Um. How did I not forget "It was going to get loud and he excused himself"? I assume it's because he said he would go seek Feng Jie but we know no one bother her. So most likely he wants to avoid all the noise.

He doesn't seem like a guy that likes too much noise.

    1. Normally, those that work over the counter usually lend an ears to people. Have you notice for some women they go to their hair dressers and they talk about what bothers them. The same applies for those in coffee shops such as QY and Bars. At least that is what I get when I read other people's stories.
