Descendant of the Sun Recap Episode 6

  In the ending of Episode 5 our Captain Yoo is returning back to Korea but before this happens he asked Doctor Kang if he should confess or if he should apologize for the kiss. The decision that Doctor Kang made was the apology for the kiss.

Even though there is desire to be together and attraction to Doctor Kang he is charming but dangerous and she doesn't like dangerous things. Her words that he charms her and attracts her, but it isn't enough because every time he leaves and there are funerals.

I cannot blame her, who wants to see their lover and love die from dangers of their jobs. At the same time I don't think she trust him because he lies to her and doesn't tell her what to expect. In addition, when she is trying to decide and make up her mind on him he leaves and since she knows he is leaving because of duty to the country she is unable to voice out her thoughts on it.



Even if she protests he would still have to go and that is his job and duty. She does understand this point in the shallow view points of what his job entitles. So he apologizes and salutes leaving her. Mo Yeon lights her favorite candle in her room and is surrounded by mosquito nets around her bed.

Shi Jin is in his room eyeing his tags and burning the mosquito coil that Mo Yeon had given him. I guess he kept that close to him because of her and was probably saying good bye.

Waking up and seeing the bicep men running, Mo Yeon seems gloomy. Gi Beom pops up and Mo Yeon learns that he had left over night and look surprised that the man doesn't give second chance. I suppose she regrets her decisions and since now she doesn't have much choices. She is in Uruk and he is in Korea now.

Back in the Yoo household the Father Yoo Young Geun is dressed in his uniform and about to get discharged from the military. Of course Shi Jin and him are getting ready for a family photo that they always take together. However, Young Geun said that Shi Jin gave up on being promoted to major but he is still proud of him to standing to his convictions. The guard house metals are good on him and that he is still proud of his sons choice.

The two men have their photos taken with a photo of their wife/mother in it. Guess they still love her. Though it begs to differ if Shi Jin is the only child.

Whistles are blown and Sergeant Major Seo the demon instructor is back and training these new boys. He is making a guy keep him lifted on his shoulders while blowing whistles if a recruit fails the zip line. His pep talk is whether they want to kill him. The answer is yes and he insults them telling them their stamina is not enough to take him down and that they would have to run to bring up their stamina. He then goes on a spiel that if they want to meet outside to fight him he would welcome then regardless of rank. 

Wow he got a lot of confidence, I bet his suicidal with this sort of talk. (Shakes head)

Another guy went through the zip line and failed. Once they failed he would make them do squats and push ups. He calls for the next recruit and immediately Shi Jin pops up and cries out. The handsome trainee is ready for descend, descend.

ALl the men watches him and Seo Dae Young signal for the guy to let him down. Shi Jin clears the zipline and Dae Young told him to stop playing around and descend. He then tell the men to watch to see the perfect way for descending. Once Shi Jin descends and is upside down looking at Dae Young, he asked him why he is here and Shi Jin said he missed him.

Inside a bar they are both drinking Soju and the talk of Shi Jin father discharge and how he cried when he gave the man  flowers. Of course that is when army men came in and turns out Dae Young was the hellish trainer for them. They try to collect on that fight without ranks outside, since they out number him, Dae Young not wanting to fight. They try to say they aren't outside but inside. Shi Jin said on the count of three they should quickly run once they secure where the exit is...on the count of one Dae Young took off.

Both men landed on the table and find out that today is sort of like army men day. The two end up in a brawl fight and avoiding the punches being given, Shi Jin jumps and pull Dae Young from the grasp of the men and both are taking off over the second floor. Down the streets looking like Tom Cruise being chase or out running a bomb. Both men go up and down stairs through the piano store of a shopping center and off the fence side to being hidden on top of some sort of board on top of a garbage can.

The military men went off pass them and both men took a gasp of breath, since they are consider safe now, Shi Jin complains on Dae Young weird idea of counting and Dae Young states he is bad at numbers. Smooth man...smooth...you can count bullets left but not...regular numbers. HAHA In addition, Shi Jin said that Dae Young is becoming old and that when he was a cadet Dae Young treated him bad too. Dae Young asked if he want to fight now.

The dialogue is astonishing, Shi Jin not wanting to fight states that he is getting sober.

Dae Young asked if Shi Jin manage to taste the alcohol he left behind in Uruk. Shi Jin said he only tasted it. Dae Young asked him if he drank it alone. Shi Jin said that Doctor Kang drank it. Dae Young surprised asked him if he enjoy it and if it went well.

Shi Jin states it did not. Poor guy it's obvious he keeps getting dumped by a girl when he is off duty and on vacation. Dae Young then said he is going home since his home is close leaving Shi Jin out in the cold. While Dae Young goes off his phone rings and he picks up.

Many wonder why he picked up Myung Joo's phone call, the answer is he doesn't have anyone in Uruk to watch over her. Usually it is Shi Jin he calls to find out how the woman is doing in Uruk. Finding out he answer and being incredibly happy she told him not to hang up and instead she would keep on talking. So she started to sprout lots of words and Dae Young listens.

Myung Joo said she doesn't care a bout her pride as long as Dae Young loves her. This bring along memories between the two, him visiting her at the dorms to their cafe dates. Of course Myung Joo said she want to hear his breathing so she know he is listening.

Mo Yeon receive a text from her best friend, Doctor Park Ji Soo. She smiles happily as she text back. Ji Soo asked if Mo Yeon is coming back to Korea and if so she would prepare a fine wine. Mo Yeon said that she doesn't drink with woman and instead to prepare a fine man for her.

Ji Soo replied asking what happen to that other guy. Did it not work.

Mo Yeon pauses in her thoughts stating that she always misses opportunities, while this is happening her monologue, Shi Jin is back in Korea looking at the town and at the same time riding a bus where Mo Yeon face is plastered on billboard and signs. Breathing out a sigh, Mo Yeon deleted her monologue to her friend.

In the billiards hall, Shi Jin is poking at balls and misses, he takes chunk of his drink with ice and chews on it. When Dae Young shows up both men seem to be wearing the same style stripe shirts. Unable to stand it, Shi Jin pull out his cellphone and started to take photos of Dae Young whom was trying to cover up the shirt and spam it over to Myung Joo's cellphone.

Myung Joo watching the cellphone smiles, while absentmindedly treating one of the army boys off center. Mo Yeon has the village kids of Blackie over and is cleaning their face and body with water and towels. One of the children bring a drawing he did of Shi Jin, her and the kids. It immediately brought a memory she had of her speaking to the kids on what not to lick or eat and to brush their teeth too.

Translating for her is Shi Jin and he keep making the children laugh when he tell them if they don't listen he would shoot them.

In Korea, a yellow tent set up with no fire going, Captain Yoo the lonely looking boy calls up his pal Dae Young. Dae Young answers and Shi Jin asked where his current location is.  Dae Young responded his in the army base whereas Shi Jin said that he is fishing in YangPyeongthe fresh air and water is great like therapy. He get absolutely no sympathy from his friend.

Shi Jin said that he is bored and asked if he can join him the man hang up on him saying no. Calling again, there is no answer from Dae Young haha. How cruel! Bet he wish he still was in Uruk since there is something for him to do. Instead he is looking at the stone from the ship wreck beach and recalling the conversation between him and Mo Yeon. Mo Yeon is telling him she would be busy trying to reclaim her place. She hands him back the stone and that is how it came to his possession instead of her own.

She told him to try to come back to the shipwreck place, see if he can do it...his thoughts are still in regard to the lady doctor and the same applies to Mo Yeon. She is standing on the cliff side and looking down to where the ship wreck is...I assume time has already passed since she is in Uruk. It must be enough time that the medical team would be returning back to Korea.

A red jeep drives up beside her and Daniel comes out. Mo Yeon is amazed he fixes the car and he reassure her that it is the same car. She tries to give him money to pay for the car, but instead Daniel asked her to donate 10 dollar a month to help the needy in Uruk instead as payment for the repairs.

Daniel tries to tempt her to do the job as a volunteer doctor, but she said she likes making money. He said he knows she is heading back to Korea and she tell him to give her regards to Ye Hwa.

Speaking of Ye Hwa she is on the field area of the mountains collecting herbs and a beautiful white butterfly is coming close to her finger. Then all of a sudden discord happens and back birds are flying right toward her. In the medic cube Mo Yeon is doing inventory of what is inside. Army Surgeon Myung Joo is bothering her trying to talk to her about Shi Jin.

Yoo Shi Jin calls Myung Joo right on time. Here, Myung Joo trying to give him report on Mo Yeon at the same time he is giving a update on Dae Young having an expresso. I guess this is mutual exchange, of course Myung Joo is trying to bully Mo Yeon and enjoying the expression on Mo Yeon's face in regard to Shi Jin. Satisfied with the conversation and still defending Mo Yeon they hang up.

Doctor Song came in to ask the medic team to go outside to take a photo. Mo Yeon tells Myung Joo to do the inventory and to turn it to the UN since she delay her job and she has to get her photograph taken with the group.

During the gathering the group is getting their photo taken by Gi Beom, however through all of these photos Mo Yeon looks not happy. Sergeant Choi informed the group that they would be taking them to the airport by helicopter. First giving them a tour of Uruk then it would be 30 minutes to the airport. However, the aircraft can only take one group at a time and turns out that Doctor Song group won.

Mo Yeon on the helicopter since she is the leader and together with the group they are viewing Uruk. Doctor Song said that this view is the greatest since the whole time they were there all he saw were the inside of a human being. Mo Yeon notices the shipwreck cove.Sergeant Choi stated that Captain Yoo said because of the view that it makes him want to protect the land.

The kid that is mistaken for the name Blackie is inside a tank when suddenly a blizzard of birds come straight at him and away. Turns out that symbolizes some natural disaster about to happen since animals feel it before humans do.

Inside the power plant, in the Manager Jin office we see the manager open up the safe underneath his chair and take out a fist full of diamonds. Then he set it inside and closes the safe and cover it up. The whole time the trouble making worker that always like to sleep in places instead of working comes out after his nap.

Manager Go catches him again and he set his own hard hat on the bowl scolding him for needing safety. While this happen things started to shake and all the workers stop working looking shocked. As for Gi Beom he is inside the kitchen getting ready to cook while getting some bowl or plates thing started to fall down. He get hit by the refrigerator whilst Harry Potter and Piccolo barely escape the building as things fall. In the medic cube things start to shake and Myung Joo scream in shock when stuff falls she immediately evacuate to pull the other left over doctor and nurses out of the place.

Inside the power plant worried over the boy that whines, Manager Go hurries to latch the hard hat onto the boy and tell him to run. While running the boy get blown back and Manager Go drops through the floor, Manager Jin is running outside with the other men evading and avoiding the falling mirrors and rocks.

On the helicopter Mo Yeon and the first group are looking stunned at the moving land and the disaster happening. While driving in Korea, Shi Jin notices the news report of Earthquake happening in Uruk and immediately turned on his radio requesting them not to hang up and instead to give him the information.

Everyone in Hae Sung are stunned to death by the news report. Chi Hoon's wife is already heavy with his child and she is about to cry worried over her husband. Ji Soo is stating they have to be alright, while noticing that the Director Han is heading toward a meeting.

Yoon Gil Joon, Commander of Special Forces. Getting reports and he already called for Alpha Team to be assembled he look at the list and requested Seo Dae Young to be place onto the list, the army man told him that already Dae Young volunteer and is on stand by.

At the airport load of people are loading and running toward the airport to evacuate, the team is already there, but Mo Yeon insist to be brought back same as Doctor Song. Mo Yeon reasoning is that with this disaster they would need the full medical staff to help. Sergeant Choi told them to go back home, but she said that she doesn't care and she would go back.

Inside an emergency meeting, Director Han is exclaiming about his medical staff and asking them to help him get them back, that he can offer funding if they need the money to save his people. Yoon Gil Joon, Myung Joo's dad tells them that already they have sent a team to the disaster zone and that they  would arrive there as fast as they can on the C-17 craft.

Inside the craft, Dae Young asked Shi Jin about his vacation, Shi Jin said he is giving it up and not to admire him too much for it. The graphic of the airplane flying above the clouds I have to give it to the visual staff. Inside the medic cube people are being treated and Doctor Song comes into the place yelling for Nurse Ha Ae afraid that she was hurt or dead from the Earth Quake.

 Min Jae was telling them she was so scared and asked if everything was okay. They worried that the airports are down, but Mo Yeon said they wanted to come back to make sure they were alright. I suppose everyone was touched by their actions.

The radio comes on and Army Surgeon answers to realize that the power plant had collapse and they had wounded and needed help. Surprised and worried the medic cube gears up and get supplies ready to go save the people. Trucks came along carrying the medical personnel everyone went to assess the situation and look shocked by everything.

The building is collapse and it look like a war zone, men being helped out my military and immediately turning around Mo Yeon reports the protocol. Black for dead or cannot help because too far gone, green for non emergency, red for emergency patient, and yellow for slightly injured. She also told everyone to wear their vest so people know they are medical personnel, they also are given backpacks with medical aid items.

Mo Yeon noticing her shoes are not able to walk in the area immediately bang off the heels to make it feasible, I am not sure why she didn't have shoes at the work place perhaps her luggage has been taken to the airport and wasn't return it.

They had tent set up already with equipment, Sergeant Choi comes along and bring in a man, immediately Manager Jin comes along and tries to tell him to help him get some paperwork he need. Choi asked how many people are on site and where they might be at the most...unable answer and immediately getting a call Choi leaves.

The patient in the tent is suffering convulsion, Nurse Ha Ae calls for Chi Hoon to help, since she doesn't have training as a doctor when the man spit out blood. In the ground, Manager Go wakes up trapped under heavy load of rock he calls if anyone is around and a voice of the worker that says safety first, comes along the line. The poor man is impaled through the chest area and bleeding, I really hope the spike closes enough that nothing is leaking out or else he most likely bleed out faster then what we imagine. Manager Go starts to hit the place beside him with a rock and calling for help.

Mo Yeon  meet Myung Joo and was trying to help the men near by, but immediately Myung Joo told her to go where Chi Hoon is trying to CPR a patient, that the man need help immediately. Mo Yeon goes over and check the man and starts to change the yellow tag to black tag, she informed Chi Hoon that the patient is already dead because of internal bleeding, even if there is a heart beat.

This is the most hardest part for an 1st year residency kid, is when he loses a patient to harsh conditions, Chi Hoon not wanting to lose someone. It was Doctor Song that slap him, telling him to stop acting like a child and instead as a doctor. This is a moral dilemma that Chi Hoon would face losing patience, and saving patience, Doctor Song giving him a talk telling him it is his duty to give a death time to the patient and to help those that can still be saved. Its a bitter portion losing someone in this way, but Chi Hoon reports the time of death at 3:40 pm Uruk Time. He closes the mans eyes as a final good bye to the man that died. Feeling tearful, Mo Yeon head on out again, an army man bring a cover and place it over the decease.

Ji Soo is calling Mo Yeon cellphone and even messaging her on her SMS, she is worried to death over her best friend. It is night time and still working to save each patient as they lug them over to the tent to do surgery and what not. Even eating is not available Doctor Song in mist of eating the food had to head out to go save another. Each person is working hard to save life after life while the army boys are trying to get through rocks and debris. I am sure this is not what they signed up for when they came to this place.

Mo Yeon treating a man that has minor injury and get ready to move on. The man held her back, worried that he was in pain the man glances to her shoes and immediately handed over his own boots to her. It was dangers for the woman feet and to protect her, since she is doing more by saving lives then he is....I felt this was quite touching the exchange of human care.

Even Gi Beom asking eagerly if the person was hurt and need medical care, but instead disappointed when he changes the number 13 to 14 decease. Then the sound of helicopter coming ahead and everyone is looking curiously with wonder, the shadows of men sliding down a rope from the helicopter and the appearance of familiar figure heading their way.

I suppose the screams of the hero is appearing!! HAHA

Walking along seven men appear and Mo Yeon is looking shocked when she see Captain Yoo, immediately the men line up to salute their Captain, but each time both people are still trying to look at each other. The depiction of relief on both faces makes my heart thump, but it also feels quite bitter sweet, jerked out of her stun look, a man request help his friend is hurt.

Hurrying off she move along. Shi Jin is checking the men to see if he lost any of his pups and feeling relieve he ask the men if anyone is hurt. They report no and he state that is a relief and started to give orders out. He tell them not to get hurt and to look out for each other, because obviously if they get hurt they cannot rescue people.

We can feel the energy change in the men and immediately the men move out. Gi Beom is almost crying seeing his big brother Dae Young. Dae Young head over to grab some rope and look around for Myung Joo. The sound of panting and running and Myung Joo appears and we can see the relief in both people eyes.

Myung Joo orders Dae Young to not get hurt. His response is to salute to her, I really do enjoy these two interaction even though their chatter is less then the leads.

Mo Yeon done with the patient is moving back to the medical facilities, she notice her shoe laces are undone and bend done to do them. That is when Shi Jin appears and set down his helmet to tie her laces, the sun is starting to come over the horizon and I believe the symbolism is another day is breaking in.

Both stand up after he is done double lacing her shoes, he also probably notices the marks on her legs and how she is scratch up. The dialogue even though short is really profound.

Shi Jin: Thankfully, you aren't hurt.  I've been regretting not saying good bye to you before I left. I can't be with you. So, Please...be careful.

Mo Yeon: You too.

Shi Jin smiling at her then leaves. Now people can take this two ways that he isn't going to be with her while she is working in this disaster area, or that he cannot stay beside her. But I assume it is not able to protect her in this disaster point since they both have to work.
