Summary:What is behind the call signs?

Call signs were assigned after a few training of a new group together.

Normally, calls signs are assigned due to something the member does or it could be an old call sign that is transfer along due to a higher up special operation group. So it’s not a big surprise that the calls signs, Big Boss, Wolf, Harry Potter, Piccolo, and Snoopy transfer to the Alpha team members.

Call signs are supposes to be short enough and easy to remember that was a rule for each call sign. Shi Jin as a leader just took on Big Boss as his call sign as he led his team to difficult missions. It amuses him that his sign was also link to that of a video game called Metal Gear. However, the call sign serves him well that he uses it even in life on his cellphone to that of his teammates. It would be silly to say that Shi Jin dreams that his call signs would be steady and hold a high reputation when he finally retires.

As for Dae Young’s call sign Wolf, Shi Jin was the one that picked it. To him Dae Young was pretty much to him an undomesticated dog. Though the idea came across Shi Jin when he watches the animal world program that talked about the gray wolf one of the most well researched animal and to him the characteristic of that canine fit his friends build and behavior. Dae Young wasn’t one that talked too much, but he was a social one in their pack as he would label it for his friend. It was also very beautiful watching his friend’s skills at hunting as it were during their missions so the call sign fitted well.

Now Staff Sergeant Gong Chul Ho’s call sign Harry Potter came simply because the boy loves the series. The anger the kid felt toward any spoilers before the last book was hilarious and they would tease him many times trying to get a rise out of him. Yet, at the same time Chul Ho was pretty quick when it came to running around and it sort of stuck.

Piccolo was award to Im Gwang-Nam because the man was a great sniper and strategist. The name was taken from the character in the Dragon Ball series. For those that do not know who Piccolo is his character is from a dragon clan, he is considered a wise, expert strategist who originally was a ruthless enemy of Goku the hero of the series. He would later on become a permanent member of the Z Fighters and form a close bond to Gohan the son of Goku. Many times strategy discussed between them would also include Sergeant Im.

The last call sign in team alpha is Snoopy. A well love character from kid stories the fun part of Snoopy name was derive from when the man was carrying a stuff Snoopy toy. Originally the members would tease him that he slept with it, but it was later reveal that Sergeant Choi was giving the toy to his niece. However, the name stuck to the poor man but ended up fitting well, since as a beagle dog is able to sniff out bombs or scents.

Sergeant Choi became the most well known in their group for many years as the bomb expert.

Now the kid as they were calling, Kim Gi Beom needed a sign. The suggestions given were Cook, Kid, to even that of shovel.

The reaction from Gi Beom wasn’t exactly nice when he came at the men with a frying pan.
