Through the open windows of the ballroom the soft breeze of the late December climate of Taiwan’s slid through cooling the dancers that were sweating heavily from the exertion of the celebration. Silk and satin glowed in the night lights. The New Year’s Eve Ball at Capital Hotel was always an outstanding event in the social circles of the rich and famous. Qing Yang would be representing that of Nan family with Na Na. It would be an event that Na Na would be exposed as Xing Tian’s daughter to that of the public. It also would be the day that he would propose to Na Na. He made sure that everything was in place. Zi Feng was happy to help Qing Yang in anyway including procuring the ring. Na Na fingers were easy to get in ring size due to Fang Xiao Jing’s sleep over party with her cousin Ya Nuo. It was fun for Na Na being able to hang out with other girls. Making friends and how Xiao Jing was absolutely a god sent when it came to fashion advice for Na Na. Helping to teach his love how to do her hair and makeup. He could see what value that woman was and thought she would be a good example of a role model. Well up to a point she was just loud though, now that Qing Yang considered. The white simple skirt and top he had entrusted to Xiao Jing. She would be attending the party to accompany Ya Nuo, since Zi Feng would be busy hosting and talking to other elites for backing and business.
Tapping sound alerted his attention and he gave a smile at how Na Na looked. He had insisted that Na Na’s hair be down, because to Qing Yang the length was nice and silky when he ran his hands through it. Looking uncertain she grips her hands together like a shy child. The darken eyeliner around her eyes made them bigger with the pale pink lipsticks. He nodded in approval. “You look gorgeous.” To comfort her he kisses the side of her cheeks to avoid ruining her make up. “Are you Sure?” Na Na whispers and shuffles in her heels. Qing Yang slid his fingers over her arms. “Very.”
“Do you think this is a bit too much?” Na Na indicated the get up by pointing at her clothes. She wasn’t wearing any jewelry but to Qing Yang that made her even more beautiful. She didn’t need glitter of gold to offset her natural beauty. Qing Yang straightens his clothes and laughs at her pouting face. “You are dressed pretty comfortably.” He stroke her hair and hums at the scent of cinnamon. “I dress even fancier on normal days then you.” “That’s because you are a fashion nazi.” Na Na giggles out a laugh when a finger pokes her stomach. “Stop it.” “Don’t call me a fashion nazi! I am just well-dressed and have a sense of what needs to be done.” Qing Yang argues but shuffles Na Na along to slide on a jacket over her body. “Where is dad?” Na Na looks around curious why he wasn’t around. Qing Yang coughs, “He is already there. He has to help out Uncle Du with the arrangements at the hotel.” “Oh.” Na Na frown smooth out as she felt less concerned. He nodded and drew her out of the two doors it tinkles as they exited. “Hang on.” He locks the facility, only then realizing how much arrangement would be made when they end up at the hotel. Zi Feng had arranged rooms for the whole family in case any of them would like to partake in the festivities of spirits. It made him wonder if Zi Feng was going to try to press Ya Nuo into having a child soon, since it was very hard for the two of them to have any privacy with his parents and sister always there. Opening the door to the car he settled Na Na inside and seat belt her into place. Then going around he open the driver door and set down to fasten his own seatbelt. He glances to Na Na enjoying her glances at him.
	“What is it?” Qing Yang whispers. Tint of red over cheeks mesmerize him, “You are very handsome.” Na Na quickly looks away out of the window. A pleased smile slips over Qing Yang’s face. He wasn’t dressed as fancy just a pattern white shirt, gray dress pants, and a blazer in black. A flutter in his chest at how sweet and adorable Na Na was if she wasn’t careful he was going eat her. Turning on the car he lean over to Na Na drawing her closer and presses his lips against her own. “Mmm…let’s go.”
The silences beside him made him grin inwardly. The drive took at least an hour to get to the area. No surprise after all it just meant that the place would be riveting with people. Heading over, he stepped out of the car and went around opening the door for Na Na to come out. The flash of cameras startled her and he held her close to him. He whispers. “Just smile, don’t worry.” At least the red carpet on the floor was smoothed out so it was easier for Na Na to walk on with her heels. Qing Yang was use to these certain aspects of life with the Du Family. It was no surprised actually but he forgot to warn Na Na of these future functions that may happen. They continued walking and smiling at the camera when they arrived inside through the twin gold doors. Na Na took a deep breath and look to him like he was at fault. “Qing Yang! What is going on?” Na Na voice was high pitched, “Why those cameras?” “I am sorry.” Qing Yang said smoothing her hair down, he sighed and lead her to a quiet room to the side to help her settle her nerves. Being careful to glance around to ensure that no one was following them, he couldn’t be sure. Once inside the private room he shut the door and set her down on a couch that was there. “I am sorry I didn’t prepare you.” Qing Yang smiled when grab a cup and pour water into it. “I did mention that Zi Feng’s family is influential. They make tons of money because of the amusement park. The other two families also have their own branch influences that no one knows that much about.” He explains trying to be helpful on the crash course he would be giving Na Na. “Okay, but explain how you are involve and dad too.” Na Na took the glass of water gulping down. Qing Yang grabbed one of Na Na’s hands and thumbs his finger over the top, “The three families we got the Wu and the Nan. Nan is specialized in mostly catering and cafes but is also good as information brokers. Most of the cafes are either in segmented business like the amusement park to hotels such as this one.” “This one?” Na Na mouth drops stunned.  “Yes, Capital Hotel is owned by our group. Though the main investor is Du and Nan invested as well under them, but they manage almost everything. It is why Zi Feng was willing to cover that check because Uncle Tian is one of their investors that never drew backing any of his money.” Qing Yang said softly, “It also means you as an heir would be rich in a way, but the money cannot be spent so easily because it is heavily invested into anything. But it doesn’t mean you cannot live comfortably.”   Na Na swallows confused, “I don’t think I am an heir of anything.” She shook her head, “I…” “That’s where you are wrong. You are uncle’s only daughter and his precious treasure. He doesn’t care about money but he wants you to live happily.” Qing Yang said softly, “I can barely get you to toss away those socks with holes. Do you think I would believe you go on a craze like Zi Han and buy random expensive items?” “Then…if there are three families what about you?” Na Na couldn’t believe all of this.   “The Wei family has always been subordinate and friends with the Du Family.” Qing Yang said, “We came later than the original three families, but we made our home too.” He said softly, “Everything I have is thanks to Uncle and Zi Feng. I work as hard to belong when my parents died. They didn’t have a home for me to live in because we mostly live in the working company area.” He gave a small sad smile, “Dad was best friends with Uncle Du. They met at some function and got into business with one another, but when they disappeared. The creditors came and took away the company and all my assets.” “That’s terrible.” Na Na was horrified. Qing Yang stroke her cheek with his hand, “Yes, but I was alright. I am here after all. I also made a nice nest egg for myself. All those hours I worked and including helping Zi Feng and investing in stock. I am alright.” Na Na lips turned down, “Why don’t I feel so accomplished like you?” She seem disappointed in herself, “I am not even able to earn as much as you.” “No, but you are still young.” Qing Yang tweaks her nose. “Now come along. Those people out there want to meet Uncle’s daughter.” A hand tightens on his arm. “Do I have too?”
“Yes.” Qing Yang said knowing she probably was terrified of the attention. “You are someone they will turn their attention too, but don’t worry. I won’t leave your side.” Na Na nods her head in agreement and both stood up and headed toward the door. “If you need me, just squeeze my arm of call my name.” Qing Yang reassures her. “Okay.” Na Na gave a determined look. The ring box that contained a perfect star and butterfly rub inside his pocket and reminded him that he missed a perfect opportunity to propose. But he wanted to wait a bit later on because Zi Feng promised he had arranged something for him. Why oh why did he have to listen to the romantic fool?
